The return/exchange process is getting uncomfortable to say the least. I've been shopping at REI for several years. But after buying some REI brand trail pants in May, I needed to exchange them due to a bunch of stitching coming loose around the pockets.
When I went to exchange them the cashier (I believe manager) looked over them. She hemmed and hawed, interrogated me on how I used them. Did I "rub my but around around on the ground" she asked. Umm no, I just wore them like normal pants for a few days. There's literally no wear on the fabric surrounding the issue. It was just bad/loose stitching that was pulling out. Not only that, there's loose stitching in a bunch of other places too.
She finally exchanged them. But I've never had a more uncomfortable or unwelcome feeling then I had today with your staff member.

Great advise and customer service! The guy that helped me gave me tips on how to prep my new sleeping pad for its first use and had a tape measure to make sure I got the right size.

I just went here for the first time to buy some rock climbing shoes. Jesus was super helpful and knowledgeable on helping me pick something good for a beginner. He walked me through everything and it was much appreciated. The store was clean, and well setup, and the cashier was also super helpful and kind with helping me order the size that they did not have. I will 100 percent be returning to this location for future business. Excellent service. Thanks so much.

I walked into REI Chandler today with a pretty comprehensive list of gear for Yellowstone, slightly overwhelmed and honestly having only marginal confidence in what I actually needed. This trip means a lot to my family - we're honoring my grandfather in the place he loved most - and I was stressed about getting the right gear for what can be unpredictable September weather.
LeAnn saw me attempting to navigate through a clipboard full of options and just took over in the best way. She admitted she wasn't an expert on Yellowstone herself, but that didn't matter - she knew the gear inside and out. She went through every single item on my list, explaining the real differences between options and helping me understand what would actually work for my needs.
What really stood out was that she wasn't trying to rush me through or hand me off to someone else. She stayed with me the entire time, making sure I understood what I was buying and why. She even attempted to talk me out of some expensive stuff I didn't need while helping me see why other items were worth the investment.
It's rare to find someone in retail who combines true expertise with the ability to read what a customer actually needs. LeAnn has both. She turned what could have been an expensive disaster into a successful shopping experience.
I ended up buying almost everything on my list (which I hadn't planned on doing - score for REI!) but I left feeling confident about every purchase instead of worried I'd been oversold. During a really stressful week, LeAnn made this huge thing so much easier.
