  I love REI! am a big supporter of them since I lived in Seattle back in the 90s and have continued to be a member.I went into the brand new Chico store this evening. I was the only customer, maybe two more people walked in, and I saw at least four employees. A very quiet night, and they're probably feeling out the customer visits, since they're a new store. however, since I was one of only 3 customers I expected a lot more hovering and customer care, but I had to push the call button each time I wanted to try on clothing. I had to find someone when I had other questions. Everyone I talked to was kind but not engaging or creative. Their customer service needs a lot of improvement, engagement to sell more items that could be beneficial to the customer. The store looked good.But I didn't look around the whole shop. With some training for salespeople, I hope they find success.

  Seems like the prices are out of reach for most people who live in Chico. The prices are so expensive that even working professionals would rather shop online or cross the street to Costco. In positive terms, it’s always worth a stop just to use the restroom.

  We are so lucky to have REI in Chico! I have been a member for many years and have had to go elsewhere to shop there. It’s so great to be able to go easily now. A few weeks ago my biking shoes failed, so I went to the store, found a new pair, and they put on the clips for free while I waited. My husband had his bike serviced there and they did a great job. I also can buy my wide width Altra trail runners right in the store, as well as my backpacking food. Thank you REI for joining our community!

  Most corporate “co-op” I’ve ever been to. Stuff is quality I admit, you’d probably pay the same prices at Sports LTD if it were still around and support local. Thankfully we have Mountain Sports and Ebay.
