My gold wedding bank broke in two places. I brought the ring into the Princess Diamonds to get it repaired. They called back a few hours later with an estimate. It was $1,210! They informed me that they needed to do an entire "restoration" of the ring, remove the diamonds, build up the seat, etc. As if this was some historically piece of jewelry. The melt value of the ring today is about $400. I asked if some of the small diamonds were loose, they so no. So why do I need to have the diamonds removed and the "seat" rebuilt? "It is what we recommend" She replied. I told them not to proceed and I would be in to pick up the ring as is. When I went to pick up the ring, the employee started taking it out as if she wanted to show me the repair work. I stopped her and told her I decided not to have the work done. She asked me "Why". I said because you want to charge me $1,210 to do a complete restoration of the the ring when all I wanted was to have it repaired. She said, they like to do quality work. I replied to her, as a customer, all I wanted was the ring to be repaired, I did not need or want a restoration. I asked if she was saying they could not repair the ring in a quality manner? She said they like to make sure the ring is in perfect condition and they would stand behind their work. I replied, if you do a repair, you would not stand behind the work, only if it is an expensive restoration? She did not respond. Needless to say, I left and took my ring up the street to a Touch of Midas. I met the owner, David and I asked if they could fix the ring. They looked at it, told me the diamonds were secure. Noted that the ring was dirty and they would let me know if after cleaning it if any of the diamonds were loose. There were no loose diamonds after the cleaning. He gave me an estimate of $200-$300 depending on how much gold they would need to use to repair the ring and any additional labor. A few days later, I got a call that my ring was ready. The ring came out perfect. Total cost was $300. It was my first time at Princess Diamonds, and my last. A Touch of Midas truly cares about the customer, does fantastic work and there is no upsell on what you need. They tell you exactly what it will take to repair the piece and give recommendations if they see anything of concern. That is customer service at its best.

Absolutely beautiful work! My original ring is from jeweler's row, but this time my fiancé and I went decided to check out Long's "band sale". We had a terrible experience - the salesman gave us a weird pitch, and they knocked out a side stone while cleaning my ring, followed by super gluing it back together, without telling me it was glued or that the glue put it at easy risk of falling out again. I found Princess Diamonds on google and I am so happy I did! Sure enough, within a week that side stone was gone again. Princess Diamonds educated me about the potential of recurring issues with my current band and showed me the glue, a very poor fix. They transferred all of my side stones and center diamond onto a new, sturdier band/settings and made me an exact match of it to use as my wedding band. Best part - the two rings sit flush without needing to be curved. Will never go anywhere else again, and feeling incredibly lucky to find such a talented team!
