We have used Primm's several time for some large project around our Pool and back deck, including a recent large project for our new Patio. While the quoting process took a little time the renderings and reviews were top notch. Dalton did a really great job providing us details and recommendations that made the project really look good.
The installation started approximately 2 weeks after we put down our deposit and the team worked tirelessly for the next 5 weeks making everything look great. Elliot our project manager did an excellent job checking in every week and providing any updates or help us make decisions when needed..
Lastly did a great job cleaning up at the conclusion of the job and made sure to correct any of our punch list that we created - it was a short list!
Frequently Asked Questions About Primm's Landscaping LLC
What should I do to prepare for my services?
To prepare for your service, please ensure your lawn is clear of any obstacles such as toys, pet waste, or debris. If possible, mark any areas of concern or specific spots you'd like us to focus on. Additionally, if you have any pets, it's best to keep them indoors during the service for their safety and our team's efficiency.
When is the best time to do landscaping projects?
Spring is ideal for prepping flower beds and starting hardscaping projects, while summer is the peak season for larger landscaping builds. Fall offers cooler temperatures perfect for planting trees and shrubs, and hardscaping can continue until the ground freezes or snow begins.
For example, one of our past projects began in late summer with the installation of a patio, sitting walls, and a fireplace, along with tree and shrub planting. The following spring, we added perennials and annuals—right when they thrive.
What is landscaping versus hardscaping?
Modern landscaping blends thoughtful design, planning, and construction to create functional outdoor spaces that enhance your home’s curb appeal. It includes both hardscaping—features like patios, retaining walls, decks, and firepits—and softscaping, which involves planting designs, grading, mulching, and shaping the land.
While many people use “landscaping” to refer mainly to softscaping, a truly modern approach combines both elements to create balanced, beautiful, and usable outdoor environments.
Do I need an irrigation system?
While an irrigation system isn’t absolutely required to keep your lawn or garden healthy, it can make the task much easier and more efficient. It takes over much of the manual labor of watering and ensures more even coverage across your yard—including areas that might get missed with a hose or sprinkler.
Using a hose and sprinkler is a more budget-friendly option, but it does require you to manually move it and set timers. Whichever method you choose, it’s easy to overwater or waste water without careful attention. Ultimately, it depends on whether the convenience and efficiency of an irrigation system are worth it for your situation.
When should I aerate my lawn?
The best times to aerate are during periods of active lawn growth—typically in the spring and fall when temperatures are cooler and rainfall is more frequent. Aeration stresses the turf slightly, so it’s best to avoid doing it during the heat of summer or times of drought when your lawn is already under stress.
At Primm’s Landscaping, we often recommend aerating in the fall, combined with overseeding. This helps loosen compacted soil while encouraging new grass growth. Aeration is beneficial for all lawns, especially those with heavy foot traffic, newly constructed yards with dense soil, or those needing thatch control or prevention.
What’s the difference between annuals and perennials?
Annual plants complete their entire life cycle in a single growing season and die off when the weather turns cold. Perennials, however, go dormant in winter and reappear each spring.
Common annuals include pansies, snapdragons, petunias, geraniums, salvia, California poppies, and violas. Well-known perennials include phlox, peonies, purple coneflowers, daylilies, black-eyed Susans, Virginia bluebells, coral bells, and hostas.
How do I keep disease away from my plants?
Getting rid of weeds for good is challenging because the conditions that support healthy plant growth also support weed growth. However, you can take steps to keep weeds under control.
Start by applying a thick layer of mulch to your flower beds and garden areas to cover bare soil and block sunlight from reaching weed seeds. Using a weed preventer like Preen can add another layer of protection. If weeds do appear, pull them early and make sure to remove the roots completely to keep them from growing back.
For weeds that grow in cracks or between pavers, commercial herbicides are effective. You can also try a natural approach by spraying vinegar, though you should be cautious since both vinegar and chemical herbicides will kill any plant they come in contact with, not just weeds.
How do I permanently get rid of weeds?

How do I water my new trees, shrubs, and flowers?
Watering newly planted trees, shrubs, and flowers is essential for helping them establish strong roots. Begin by watering them thoroughly right after planting and letting the water soak into the soil before watering again. For the first few weeks, aim to water every other day.
Use a gentle stream from a hose placed at the base of each plant and allow the water to form a small pool before moving on. This encourages the roots to grow deeper into the soil, which helps the plant become more resilient over time. Light surface watering causes roots to stay shallow, leading to weaker plants that require more frequent watering and are more vulnerable to winter damage.
After the first week, watering two to three times per week is usually enough, depending on the weather. Before winter sets in, make sure to give your new trees, shrubs, and perennials a final deep watering before the ground freezes.
What is the benefit of adding mulch to flower beds?
Mulch provides a range of benefits for your flower beds. It helps the soil retain moisture, especially during dry spells, and it improves soil quality as it naturally breaks down over time. Mulch also reduces weed growth by blocking sunlight from reaching weed seeds, making your garden easier to maintain.
Depending on the type you use, mulch can also help repel certain insects. Another important benefit is that it helps prevent soil erosion by protecting the surface from wind and heavy rain. For all these reasons, mulch is a great investment in the health and appearance of your garden.
