I've been going to Precision Auto for a long time now. I know the owner personally and he is one of the best mechanics I've worked with. Personally I've been in the automotive industry for almost 14 years now and I've seen my fair share of good and bad mechanics. Aaron the owner is a top notch mechanic and an even better human. He's honest and fair and his team provides good quality service. TJ is the guy you will see when you walk in. He runs the show from answering the phone to setting appointments. Don't let his administrative skills fool you he can definitely wrench on a car. They work on pretty much anything. I've taken my American cars there and our German cars as well. We take our 2016 Mercedes there for oil changes and they did brakes on it as well. They are well versed on all makes and models. I highly recommend the boys at Precision. I can't say enough good things about my experiences with cars there. They also do emission tests there as well. Stop and see them. BONUS INFO: THEY HAVE A PULL TAB MACHINE!!!! Go and try to win at cardboard crack!!! If you win I get 25% of your winnings🤣
Frequently Asked Questions About Precision Auto & Diesel
Should I keep an eye on fluids and filters?
Your car’s engine is full of sensitive and delicate moving parts that rely on fluids like oil, transmission fluid, and coolant to function well. If you don’t keep an eye on these fluid levels or periodically change the filters, these delicate parts could face irreparable damage.
Your car’s brakes also require brake fluid to transfer the force to the brakes to slow or stop your vehicle. It's possible for brake fluid to lose its effectiveness or for leaks to occur. If you experience abnormal brake performance, make sure to have your car checked.
Coolant or antifreeze prevents overheating and freezing of the engine's cooling system. Like brake fluid, recommended service intervals vary by manufacturer and can range from roughly a few years to a recommended check during every scheduled maintenance service. Keep an eye on your coolant level to ensure there aren't any leaks. If you ever see the engine temperature warning light turn on, there might be something wrong with your coolant or the amount of coolant remaining.
When should I have my automotive parts replaced?
Your vehicle’s brakes should be examined at least once a year to identify any wear and tear and need for repair. Brake pads and rotors typically last anywhere from 35,000 to 60,000 miles, depending on how often you stop while driving and how thin or thick the rotors and pads are initially.
Your car’s battery typically lasts 4 or 5 years, depending on outdoor temperature, driving frequency, and overall use – among other influences. To maximize battery life, keep your battery clean; don't leave your car unused for an extended period, and don't forget to shut off the interior lights and headlights when your car isn't in use.
Driving with bad headlights can be very dangerous. Restoring your headlights can have it looking like new and can shine up to 3 or 4 times lighter when driving. You can slow oxidation caused by heat, sunlight, pollution, and harsh chemicals by parking in a garage when possible.
How do I care for my tires and wheels?
A car’s wheels and tires are essential to the safety and performance of the vehicle. Inspect your tires and wheels regularly for symptoms such as low inflation pressure, uneven wear patterns, or excessive wear. You should also take time to keep them at the proper pressure for better fuel economy.
Tire services such as tire rotation, wheel alignment, tire balancing, and tire repair can help maximize tire life and improve your safety. Your vehicle’s owner’s manual will provide a schedule for the recommended time to perform tire services.
Why should I check my tire pressure?
The pressure of your tires can influence the way you drive. Under-inflated tires can cause irregular tire wear and can cause a tire blow-out, and over-inflated tires are more likely to be damaged when hitting an obstacle. Keep your tire pressure at the recommended PSI that is outlined in the owner’s manual. Properly inflated tires will maximize tread life, improve handling, and increase fuel efficiency and overall driver safety.
What is tire tread depth?
A tire’s tread is what gives it traction on the road. Your tire has built-in tread wear indicators, also known as “wear bars.” When these bars are flush with your tire’s tread, then it’s time to get the tire replaced. If tires are bald and without much tread, you’re more likely to lose your connection with the road while driving.
Why should I have my tires rotated?
When you drive your vehicle, it will wear down certain tires more than others, so you should have your tires rotated every 5,000 to 8,000 miles. Recommended rotation patterns for your vehicle can be found in your owner’s manual. Rotating the position of your tires will help you get the most miles out of your tires, the best traction, and improved driving safety.
Why should I have my tires balanced?
Tire balancing is done by evenly distributing the weight of your vehicle, so it is fully balanced evenly across all the tires. Whenever you have your tires replaced, tire balancing should also be done as a part of the tire installation process. Balanced tires give you a smoother, more comfortable ride without feeling any vibrations coming from the wheels.
Why should I get my wheels aligned?
A wheel alignment involves fine-tuning the angles of your vehicle’s suspension system so that your wheels are pointed in the right direction. A wheel alignment is performed to bring the car's suspension into proper configuration for positioning and adjusting components so that wheels are aligned with each other and the road surface. Proper alignment will give you a smoother ride, fewer vibrations, reduced wear on your tires, and better mileage.
