My dog went here twice for free as part of their free evaluation and complimentary daycare offer. The first time I was fooled by pictures that the staff took into thinking that he was happy, playing with other dogs, and being entertained by the staff. While the staff seem nice enough, they do not play with the dogs, as you can see from the live stream. They either sit on the floor playing on their phone or mop the floor. The dogs just follow the staff around the room the entire time or just lay down. The dogs don’t play with each other, and they all look miserable.
Outside, the dogs just lay on the ground either in the small shaded area provided by the overhang of the building or they have to lay in the hot sun. The staff sits on the ground.
Granted the weekends were “open play” so maybe that means the staff doesn’t have to interact with the dogs and only does on the “theme days”. However the two theme days that I have seen pictured are bubbles and disco ball. Disco ball is a lighted ball that probably moves on its own or just lights up/vibrates, and bubbles is the staff using a little handheld bubble gun and squirting bubbles at the dogs. In any pic with bubbles that I’ve seen the dog is just standing there.
I brought my dog here because I wanted him to play with other dogs and to have fun, which didn’t happen as far as I could tell. Also this is the only location of this franchise that offered live stream. Now I can see why they don’t offer live stream at the other locations and why other daycares don’t even offer it. They don’t want you to see the staff not paying attention to your dog or not playing with other dogs.
At the previous place we took him (Happy Paws in DC) he had a great time and staff engaged with the dogs more, which we viewed on live stream, but there was no outdoor space. Also there was better care on the puppy Saturdays then the daycare during the week. After being there for one day of daycare during the week, he smelled like urine and during that day of daycare one of the staff members handled him too roughly, so that is why we are looking for another option.
At the end of the day, don’t be fooled by the pictures, which are staged for the moment, and don’t think that your dog just has separation anxiety when you drop him off. When you pick your dog up and he’s so happy to see you it’s not because he’s had a great time…he’s relieved he can finally go home. Watch the live stream (only offered inside) and see for yourself.
Lastly, I am interested in receiving doggy daycare recommendations in the DC-MD area from someone that has actually seen their dog have fun at their doggy daycare. Thank you!

Great place to drop your dog for daycare
My dog was boarding with Playfulpack Rockville, for over 3 weeks. He had a pleasant stay. The staff really took care of him and his needs. They even altered his meal times to accommodate his change in hunger due to separation and stress. He got a good amount of playtime balanced with rest. Playful pack is more flexibility in terms of stuff my dog can take while boarding, treats he can have etc in compare to other boarder in the area.
They have fun activities planned everyday of the week. There is live camera to view the playroom 8am-5pm everyday. They send photos at the end of everyday and are very prompt in responding to all your queries and requests via emails when you're away !!!
Very pleased and highly recommend for daycare and also boarding.

Athena absolutely loves coming here! Every time we pull up, she’s so excited to jump out of the car and play. The staff is wonderful, and they truly care about every dog. She always comes home happily exhausted, which is the best part. I feel so good knowing she’s in great hands — highly recommend this daycare!
