I love Planta Sushi in Brentwood—the food is fresh, flavorful, and a dream for someone like me who’s vegan and needs nutrient-dense meals. But after what feels like the 100th frustrating delivery experience, I’ve had it.
Every single time I order, I have to wish and hope that someone on staff reads my notes about adding ginger and wasabi. Seriously, why is this so hard? Why do I need to cross my fingers that the delivery driver even sees the request in time? I’ve tried everything—adding notes, calling, begging through Uber Eats, sending messages—and still, more often than not, the basic essentials are missing. And yes, I said basic. Wasabi and ginger are not extras; they are part of the sushi experience. Same goes for CHOPSTICKS. Like… how are you sending out sushi orders without chopsticks?
I’ve referred so many people to Planta—through word of mouth and social media. I’ve helped coordinate large orders for events, and even then it was a hassle trying to get anyone on the phone. That auto phone service is awful. It never connects to anyone. You can’t ever get through to a host or manager. Ever. It’s like trying to break into Fort Knox.
This time, I was feeling unwell and needed a comforting meal. I live way in DTLA and still went out of my way to order Planta via Uber Eats. I even stalked the poor delivery guy, hoping that he understands English, trying to get him to tell them to please include the ginger and wasabi. He didn’t understand me, and shocker: they forgot again. At least he got the food to me safely, but guess what else they left out? Chopsticks. AGAIN! So there I was, eating this gorgeous box of sushi with my fingers at work.
I shouldn’t have to fight this hard just to get a complete, thoughtful order. I’m tired of calling. Tired of writing notes. Tired of being patient. I’ve stood by all the excuses, hoping they’d get better. But now I’m done. I think you may have lost a loyal customer—and that sucks, because I really wanted to keep supporting you. LA doesn’t need another great restaurant going under due to bad customer experience. Fix it before more of us walk away.
Just have employees TAPE the chopsticks to the boxes!! Ugh!
