    Budget friendly, staff always friendly and helpful. Most equipment is brand new and easy to use. This gym was added to my Medicare Advantage plan so my plan pays for my membership.

    Why won’t this Planet Fitness refund me? I liked using my planet fitness account while traveling. I haven’t been to this specific location in Madera but I picked it as my home base because it is in California. California law requires gyms to allow online cancellation while where I live in Minnesota there is not a state law requiring online cancelation so Planet Fitness does not provide online cancelation in Minnesota and many other states (lame and predatory). Anyways I enjoyed using my black card membership while traveling. However I don’t plan to travel for a bit so I no longer need my PF membership. I thought I had cancelled the service however apparently I hadn’t, and was billed for another month. I called five days after the charge explaining my situation and wondering if I could get a refund for the extra monthly charge. I was told they wouldn’t refund me because in my contract it says I will be charged at x time and if I don’t cancel by then I will be charged. I said ok I get that but I thought I had cancelled could I get a refund for this last charge? They still said no they wouldn’t refund me and that I can call my bank if I want to dispute the charge ( I tried that and don’t think it’s going to work.). I asked if there was anyone else I could speak to and the employee said no, she is the assistant manager and her manager would say the same thing that they wouldn’t refund the charge. I told her I thought that was ridiculous they wouldn’t refund the charge and left it at that since it didn’t seem to be going anywhere. I get that “technically” they don’t have to refund me but like come on…would you help a guy out??? Anyways two stars because I did enjoy the membership up until the cancelation. Was nice having access to multiple gyms while traveling. But yeah predatory and lame that they won’t allow online cancelation in many states, making the cancelation process more difficult by forcing people to call and speak with a rep or go in person to cancel. Also unhappy that they won’t refund me and what I imagine are other people that would like a refund after forgetting to cancel. Not impressed by that customer service when other companies would be willing to refund a charge like that happily, especially since I’d spent ~$60 already with the company. Would like my money back, my bank account is crying. 😢 😞 😢
