This is hands down the WORST Planet Fitness I’ve ever been to. They refused to allow me and my service animal inside, claiming my app “wouldn’t scan.” I’ve never had this issue at any other location. I even called my hometown Planet Fitness, and they said they’ve never heard of that problem either.
As soon as I walked in, a female employee immediately snapped, “You can’t have a dog in here,” before even letting me scan. I explained that if they allowed me to check in, it would display all the service animal information tied to my membership.
When the app didn’t scan right away, the assistant manager, Mark, started joking around with the female employees, saying, “Look, he can’t even scan in—just leave it to that,” while clearly noticing how hostile the employee was being toward me. Not only was that unprofessional, but as a female, his behavior and dismissiveness felt disrespectful and condescending.
I’m a Black Card member, my account is active and freshly renewed, and the app clearly displayed today’s date. Even after learning from higher-ups that they legally cannot refuse a service animal, Mark continued to deny me entry, hiding behind a “system error.”
This location needs serious retraining on ADA laws, professionalism, and basic respect. I will not only be posting this review but also filing an ADA complaint. If you’re a service dog handler or expect to be treated with dignity, I highly recommend avoiding this location.
