Great firewood, easy drop off service. The first thing I noticed when the pickup pulled up was the firewood smelled amazing. We just do backyard fires, nothing fancy, but I have learned my lesson on good firewood (having friends over for a smoke pit rather than a fire pit is no fun) and this is good firewood.

We have been working with these folks for over a decade. They take very justified pride in their wood, their expertise, and their business. Kiln dried wood burns smoother and longer so is well worth the slightly higher cost per log. Also you get a compact stack, which means your money is going entirely for wood. When a seller cross-stacks, some of delivered volume is air.
I recommend them highly.
Frequently Asked Questions About Pinnacle Firewood Company
WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES OF BURNING HARDWOODS VS. SOFTWOODS?
You are generally getting almost twice as much heat value from hardwoods compared to softwoods. So from an economic standpoint, you get more bang for your buck. A full cord of aged softwoods can sometimes weigh only half as much as a full cord of aged hardwoods due to their lower density, resulting in a longer burn. In turn, this forces you to reorder more often, costing you more money in the long run.
WHY SHOULD I CONSIDER BECOMMING A PINNACLE FIREWOOD CUSTOMER?
You are supporting a professional local firewood company, not an out of town door knocker vendor. We also guarantee our volumes according to the Minnesota Dept. of Weights and Measures. We will never mix softwoods like pine, Poplar or willow and claim to sell you a hardwood mix. We have run an honest business for over 30 years and our large repeat customer base is a testimonial to that.
IS YOUR FIREWOOD KILN DRIED?
Yes, we do.
HOW LONG HAS YOUR FIREWOOD BEEN SEASONED?
We season our firewood for a period ranging from one to one and a half years. Afterward, all orders are further kiln-dried at temperatures exceeding 250 degrees.
WHY ARE PRICES SO DIFFERENT WHEN PURCHASING FIREWOOD?
You may see in your local newspaper, 1/3 of cord for $95.00. We sold wood at that price too, back in 1993. If you see very cheap prices, typically the firewood is probably not seasoned, it will be crisscrossed stacked (so you will receive only about 60% of what you really paid for) or the wood is a mix of junk and you will burn through it quickly and have to reorder very quickly. Also, it seems in this day and age everyone with a pickup truck and a chainsaw is firewood business. When ordering from these vendors, they generally always run out or leave you high and dry when they go out of business in a year or two. Avoid partial cords or unusual measurements. Some vendors sell 3'x4' stacks or 3'x7' stacks. You may feel like you are getting a good deal, but if you calculate out the volume in full cords, they could cost you more than you think!
HOW LONG ARE YOUR FIREWOOD PIECES?
Most of our firewood pieces are processed to a uniform length of 15"-16". These are pretty standard lengths and typically fit well in both a wood stove or fireplace. We can do custom orders as well if you have a small woodstove or have a large fireplace.
WHY DO SOME FIREWOOD VENDORS OFFER TO STACK MY ORDER FOR FREE AND OTHERS CHARGE TO STACK?
Very simple free stacking = Rip Off. Your order should be stacked in a straight tight row. The scam comes when these supposed (nice guys) offer to stack your wood for free and when you come out with your checkbook, your woodpile looks like a Jenga game. This criss-cross stacking fashion gives you a lot of airspace and little of what you paid for, firewood. Criss-cross stacking can yield 30%-50% less volume Please don't feel bad if you have been a victim of this deceitful business practice. Unfortunately many fly-by-night outfits have been doing this to unknowing customers for years.
WHAT SHOULD I BE AWARE OF WHEN PURCHASING FIREWOOD?
Quality is very important. The old saying, "You get what you pay for." is very true when purchasing firewood. Pinnacle only sells clean, split, uniform, quality firewood. Also, seasoned wood is very important. You don't want hardwoods to be under a year seasoned. The sap in the wood will create creosote in your chimney and could potentially cause a chimney fire. And finally, quantity if very important. You should only deal with firewood companies who sell standard firewood measurement: 1/6,1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3 and full 4'x4'x8' full cords. (128 Cubic feet)
WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO STORE MY FIREWOOD?
Outdoors, stacked in a wood rack is ideal. Away from your home and elevated a good 6" off of the ground. By doing this you help keep away insects and rodents. A small tarp or cover over the top quarter of your firewood stack is a good idea for those rain and snow days. On sunny days, remove cover to allow airflow to the stack. It is always a good idea to have a couple day supply of firewood indoors. This wood has a chance to warm up to room temperature and give the proper combustion to start a good fire.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO HAVE MY CHIMNEY CLEANED?
Having a dirty chimney robs you of airflow draw to your fireplace or woodstove. This will result in a frustrating firewood burning experience. Also, heavy creasote and build up can cause a chimney fire. If you burn clean, seasoned firewood, you should keep your chimney cleaning down to a minimum The number of times you are required to have your chimney cleaned or inspected, just depends on how often you burn firewood in a season.
