    I was quoted verbally and on my online statement that the dump fee was $50. What they didn’t mention was that the dump fee has a $200 labor charge added on to it as well. When I called and asked about this charge, I was told it was “standard policy.” I was not made aware of the $200 standard policy labor charge when I called to confirm that the dump fee was only $50 3 different times. (Also, I only requested two items to be dumped. A love seat and a dresser…) The owner called me and said he would take a listen to the phone calls and give me a call back. He did not give me a call back. The movers were great people, and setting the move up was smooth, but this $200 charge that isn’t anywhere on my quote, and was never mentioned by the receptionist, seems like an unethical business practice. Update: by the response from the owner it’s clear that this company doesn’t want to take accountability for their mistake. They mention I was told about labor charges over the phone. I was not. Again, there were three separate phone calls where I question the price of this dump fee, and I am told on each occasion that it is just a $50 dump fee. No mention of any extra charge, no mention that a labor fee is included in the dump fee. My online quote itself states $50 as the dump fee, with no mention of any other fees included. My situation may be unique, but acting as if New Hanover dump fees or standard moving policies are common knowledge is ridiculous. You’re supposed to educate your customers with good business practice, not take advantage of them for their ignorance.
