We are disappointed in the services from Pink Zebra for several reasons, but the main one being the lack of communication and resolution after severely damaging our home.
The first issue we had was with poor communication. We were moving our office, and had three stops, two pick ups and a drop off at our final destination. I called several times prior to our move day to ensure the movers would show up at the correct location because the emails I was receiving did not have the right location, but they assured me they understood our needs.
Come moving day, the movers show up at the wrong location, causing an hour delay. While moving items out of our home, the movers had trouble moving armoires down the stairs —causing them to damage our antique door and wood floors going down the stairs, even dropping one of the armoires completely. This included deep indents, scratches, and gouging. The movers assured that they have insurance and that it wouldn’t be an issue to repair and at the time we trusted that.
The movers were kind and friendly. We know accidents happen, and as a business owner myself, I assumed by the services provided that this company had integrity. We fed the workers a generous lunch and provided drinks they mentioned were their favorites. We also provided a generous tip.
When we reached out to management about the damage, they requested quotes, which we got with contractors we have experience working on the antiquity of our home. The damage is severe enough to impact the value of our home, and we wanted to ensure that the damage was properly repaired.
After receiving our quotes, Pink Zebra sent a contractor of theirs out to provide a quote for the damage, claiming it was an adjuster. The contract they sent expressed he wasn’t experienced in the repairs we needed, but could make it “passable.” He wasn’t able to provide a clear answer regarding how he would repair our door or stairs, but said he would do his best to make it “match as best as possible.” We asked Pink Zebra for photos of the contractor’s work so we could see the quality of their work, but they never sent anything. We let them know our concerns, but they refused to pay for the full damages, and would only reimburse the amount their contractor quoted, which was significantly less than the professionals we spoke with.
To provide some perspective, we paid over $4000 for this move and they caused over $2000 in damages, but were only willing to reimburse us $500 or send their contractor out. There was other damage done to furniture and equipment, but we decided to let that go as it was most important to fix the major damage to our home.
We let Pink Zebra know we wanted an insurance adjuster to come out regarding the damage since we couldn’t see eye to eye and we are aware that they have insurance. It’s been several weeks and we’ve never heard back.
If we don’t come to a resolution we are going to have to escalate this issue. We are extremely disappointed that Pink Zebra isn’t interested in resolving this professionally.
If you decide to work with Pink Zebra, keep an eye on everything and document everything. We were hopeful that Pink Zebra would be integral and take accountability for the damages that they caused, but unfortunately that isn’t the case and we will not recommend them moving forward.
