I've been a loyal customer of Persnickety Cleaners for about four years, and up until now, I've always had a positive experience. However, I was genuinely disappointed during my visit today.
I brought in several garments, including black cotton sweaters - the kind that naturally attract a bit of lint or fuzz. Nothing extreme, just normal for darker clothing. To my surprise, the manager, Alejandra, informed me that there would be an additional $8 charge per garment to simply lint-roll them.
I've had clothes dry cleaned all over the US and abroad, and I've never once been charged extra for this. In my experience, ensuring a garment comes back clean and lint-free is part of the dry-cleaning process - not an add-on service.
What makes this even more disappointing is that I've brought these exact garments here before under the same conditions, and this "lint--rolling fee" was never mentioned. I was told it's part of a new policy, but honestly, it feels unreasonable and out of touch with standard industry practices.
I understand that small businesses have costs, but charging $8 per garment for something so minimal feels exploitative, especially for loyal customers. If I had known, I would have lint-rolled them myself before bringing them in.
Unfortunately, this experience has lost them a long-time customer.
