How far in advance do I need to schedule my move?
We recommend booking your move as early as possible. During peak seasons (spring and summer), our schedule typically fills up 2-3 weeks in advance. Fall and winter offer more flexibility with shorter notice periods. Smaller moves may be accommodated with less notice, while full house relocations require more advanced planning. Weekend slots, especially Fridays and Saturdays, tend to book quickly. If you're unable to provide much notice, please contact us, and we'll do our best to accommodate your needs.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
We understand that circumstances can change, particularly when buying or selling a home. We're flexible in accommodating unforeseen changes related to your move. We request that you inform us of any cancellations or rescheduling as soon as possible, with a minimum of 48 hours' notice. Changes made within 48 hours of the scheduled move may incur a cancellation fee. This policy is in place because last-minute cancellations prevent us from scheduling other moves during that time, which can significantly impact our operations.
What kind of preparation should we do prior to the move?
The extent of pre-move preparation depends on your available time, and we're equipped to handle all necessary prep work. However, more preparation on your part can expedite the move and potentially reduce costs. Some recommended preparations include: disassembling furniture (though we're prepared to do this), disconnecting gas and water lines for appliances, removing artwork, mirrors, and TVs from walls, emptying drawers of non-clothing items, and packing smaller, loose items. We can provide more detailed guidance based on your specific moving needs.
Do you offer moving supplies?
Yes, we provide a variety of moving supplies. For detailed information and pricing, please refer to our packing supplies page on our website. Supplies can be picked up or delivered with 3-4 days' notice. We offer free delivery within Perrysburg.
Do you work in all weather conditions?
We operate in most weather conditions, excluding severe storms or situations that could compromise our movers' safety. We continue working in snow and light to moderate rain. In heavy rain, we may temporarily pause the move until conditions improve. We will notify customers of any potential weather-related delays as soon as possible. If you wish to reschedule due to weather, please contact us with as much advance notice as possible.
What types of trucks do you use?
For most jobs, we utilize 24' or 26' box trucks. Smaller or specialized jobs may require different vehicles, such as dump trucks for furniture and appliance disposal, or trailers for vehicle transport. Larger moves may necessitate multiple trucks, which could incur an additional charge.
How do you charge for your services?
We charge an hourly rate for our moving and packing services, offering free estimates to determine the necessary crew size and equipment. Our rate is all-inclusive, covering truck usage, fuel, mileage, insurance, and basic materials and equipment. For moves beyond 50 miles from Perrysburg or Sylvania, we apply a fuel surcharge based on total distance. The billable time starts when we leave our shop and ends upon our return. We may apply surcharges for exceptionally heavy or unusual items, which will be clearly communicated in the estimate. For packing services, you're only charged for the actual boxes and materials used.
How does your insurance work if something is damaged?
We carry $1,000,000 in liability insurance per occurrence and $2,000,000 in total coverage. Our standard rate includes up to $50,000 coverage for household possessions during transit. We offer three coverage options for your belongings: minimal reimbursement coverage (60 cents per pound), full value replacement coverage (1% of declared value, minimum $6 per pound), and separate declaration for items of extraordinary value (worth over $100/lb). These options are regulated by state and federal agencies. In the event of damage, we're committed to working with you to resolve the issue.
Should I tip my movers?
Tipping is not required but is appreciated for exceptional service. If you choose to tip, you can do so directly to the movers or add it to your total when paying by check or credit card.
