While I didn't stay here, I stopped in to look at this historic building. Saidia was working the front desk and was very kind and showed my friends, wife and myself around the hotel and told us about the history of this place. I hope to visit this town again, and if I do I'll be sure to book at the Penn Wells Hotel. I highly recommend for anyone that is a history enthusiast.

The hotel is retro and quirky, which was charming. The staff overall were not friendly. There was no heat in the room. The plumbing was interesting, the toilet would “burp” when the room above flushed and the sink drained slowly. Very limited hotel restaurant/bar hours, closing at 8PM.

My one-night stay at the historic Penn Wells Hotel was a great way to break up a long car trip. I was at first a little dubious at staying at a non-chain hotel, but one look at the cosy lobby with its crackling fire convinced me.
The place has been lovingly maintained, and rooms, while simple, are very comfortable, with a firm mattress and good quality sheets and towels. I appreciated having comfortable armchairs in the room.
It was a pleasure to have a good dinner in the hotel’s bustling bar, and the free breakfast in the main dining room was simple but good—it was especially nice to have coffee available in the breakfast room from 5:00 a.m.
Wellsboro seems like a very pleasant small town with a largely intact downtown, and the Penn Wells would be a great base to explore the town and the area.
Wellsboro is so cute. It's like stepping back in time, not in a bad way but a quaint way. Penn Wells Hotel fits in with that theme very well. It has a 1930's-40's vibe and is well done. Walls could have used some decoration and the room needed a 2nd mirror other than the small one in the bathroom. We did hear some traffic noise. Other than that it was clean, cozy and convenient to downtown. Staff was helpful and friendly. We would recommend staying here. Two thumbs up.
Beautiful hotel from days gone by on the main street among all the little store fronts. The location is great, but I was in a room of the front of it and the street noise was terrible at times. A lot of truck traffic is going through all hours of the day. Bring ear plugs! The staff did a good job if you needed anything or had any questions. Breakfast was okay with the items every day. I skipped breakfast and went to dinner in town on the last day. The Octoberfest dinner was excellent so I imagine dinners would be great! The bathroom could use some work. The facit leaked in the bathtub but we had good pressure and plenty of hot water.
