Anytime I go to Birmingham, I try to go Pappadeaux. I went yesterday, and Landon was our server and he was A-1. Landon kept checking on us, he made sure we had drink refills and he did his job with a smile. We also saw Eric who was our server once before and was A-1, their customer service from entering is top tier. Our food was fresh, hot and great like always. The portions are great in size that you will have enough to take home. I've been coming to this location for over 10 years and not once have I had bad service. I would highly recommend going if you're in the Birmingham location. I wish we had a location in Huntsville, Alabama, as it is steady growing, but until then I will keep coming to Birmingham.
Really good food. Service was good. We had reservations for 2 and had to wait about 30 minutes until I noticed the host was seating walk ins immediately. I asked him how much longer the wait would be and he had us stand by to be seated next.
I do feel the need to say something was lacking, but I can't quite put my finger on it.
Perhaps its the way we want to enjoy drinks like we did in our 30s, but one drink takes us out now 😆
Anyway, our dinner was lovely

Our waiter Landon did not come to our table very often and most of the time that we needed service. He was off on the other side of the restaurant talking with two girls most of the time instead of paying attention to our table even our food came out from someone else at separate times not all at once but yet the table next to us he brought all of their food out to them all at the same time . This was my first experience at this restaurant and I definitely do not recommend it if the service is like this throughout the entire restaurant. It took forever for appetizer to arrive almost as if he forgot to put it in in addition to waiting a very long period of time in between him stopping at our table to even do something as simple as refilling our drinks. He did seem very distracted, speaking to two other girls on the other side of the restaurant, most of the evening instead of paying attention to our table. Very disappointed.

I went yesterday for my friend birthday. This was my friend first time eating there. We are not from the area. We live 2 hours away. We was already in the area and decided to eat there. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table. That was no problem. Our waiter was Alcedra she was nice. She was not attentive to us at all. After we got our food she never came back to check on us. We was never asked for a refill or anything. We had to stop another waiter to have her come back with our checks and to go boxes. I'm not sure if she was new or not. If what we could tell they were only giving her one table at a time. I food was really good though. I will come back and eat but definitely requesting not to have her as a server. She didn't deserve a tip but I still gave her one.

My experience at Pappadeaux on Hwy 280 in Birmingham was disappointing enough to share. My two guests and I (one of whom was celebrating a birthday) decided to stop by, last minute granted, and arrived around 7:50 PM. The hostess, Angelica, told us there was a 45-minute wait, which was perfectly fine. However, instead of offering any further guidance, she simply said, “You guys can try to find somewhere at the bar,” and walked away.
As a hostess, I would expect at least a gesture toward where we should wait or a bit more effort to make us feel welcomed. The bar had no available seating, so I returned to the stand to clarify. At that time, I counted 12 empty tables but was told they were all “accounted for.” Since we were quoted a 45-minute wait and the restaurant closes at 9, I realized we likely wouldn’t be seated at all unless we could find something at the bar.
It wasn’t just the inconvenience it was the way we were disregarded. The interaction felt dismissive and unhelpful, and it left us with the impression that our business wasn’t valued. I truly hope the restaurant addresses how guests are welcomed and treated, because first impressions like this matter. As I finish this review and the restaurant is now closed, all of the tables are still open.
