Some of the service here is nice. I usually just get a soda, and I either do some video editing here or go through the drive-thru. My one problem and the reason I’m not giving five stars is the service. Sometimes I meet nice people, but some employees are very disrespectful. I’ve encountered three employees who were rude.
Whenever I go through the drive-thru and say hi, one person quietly says, “Okay,” which felt very rude. The next time I tried the same greeting, another employee said “Okay” quietly again. I thought maybe I was saying it wrong, so I tried going inside. No, not inside—I went through the drive-thru and said, “Hi, I’m part of the Safe Club. My phone number is XXXX.” A lady responded very rudely with, “Okay, I’m not even at the—”
I used to work at a fast-food restaurant, and I know how disrespectful that is. If I had done that to a customer, they would have cussed at me. No offense to Panera, but you need to have a talk with your employees because that behavior is not acceptable. I was being respectful I don’t yell, and I understand employees have lives but this was unprofessional.
I don’t know the employees’ names, but I wish I did because they need to be told that this was not respectful. If a customer says, “Hi, I’m part of the Sip Club,” you should respond appropriately: “All right, what’s your phone number?” Instead, I was met with rudeness and attitude.
Some of your employees are very nice, but the ones I encountered at the drive-thru were extremely disrespectful. They need to fix their attitudes. You don’t need to smile or chat just respond politely and professionally.
What angered me the most was today with that lady, when she said, “Okay, I’m not even at the dial, so you’ll have to repeat that again, sir.” Seriously? If I had done that to a customer, I would have been in trouble. I wish I could get her name to report her because this behavior is unacceptable.
I don’t like yelling at people, but I have to say it: if I meet that lady again and she gives me the same attitude, I won’t respond respectfully because I was treated unfairly.
Panera, please instruct your employees to be respectful when customers come in or through the drive-thru. Greet them politely or simply ask, “How can I help you today?” Never give a customer attitude you’re not paid to be rude. I’ve had long days, and a rude employee just made it worse.
