Outbound Mammoth has a wine bar with the most magical sommelier, Chip. Over three visits to Outbound Mammoth, I’ve watched Chip charm visitors from France, Georgia, and right here in town. His personality cuts through language barriers and every chat becomes an adventure, every recommendation a revelation. Chip doesn’t just sell wine; he shares its stories. His deep knowledge and easy humor turn casual browsers into true enthusiasts. If you’re in Mammoth, meeting Chip at Outbound is a must. You’ll see exactly what I mean. Chip is a gift—the Cadbury Egg of Mammoth.

The photos on Google show the new cabins and condos, but in reality, the main hotel is quite old and has an unpleasant smell. I really liked the location and would stay here again, but only if I book one of the newer, more expensive rooms - otherwise it feels more like a budget motel than a resort

I’m not one to leave a review. But this place needs a serious overhaul. A lot of people went into depth about what is wrong, and clearly there has been no changes. Mammoth hardly has service as it is. Would be nice to at least have WiFi at the hotel. Even the tv looses service.

We stayed for a night in September on a road trip from Yosemite to Vegas. The hotel did have mixed reviews but given the ongoing refurbishment we were optimistic that the hotel would meet our needs. Sadly the optimism was misplaced, the hotel charges a resort fee which, whilst not uncommon in the area, didn’t seem to provide any actual amenities to guests. Room cleanliness was very disappointing, with dirty A/C, the last guests dirty clothing left between the drawers and chair and the bathroom light having exposed electrics. Given the hotel was recently updated these were disappointing issues to find and the kind of lack of attention to detail I would expect to see at a budget Motel not somewhere that sells itself as a resort and charges as such. Sadly I’d have to recommend that if you were staying in the area you look elsewhere for a room.

I’ll get straight to the point. I wasn’t sure if I should book this hotel due to the mixed reviews, but I was looking for something last minute that was pet friendly on my way from Tahoe to LA. I’m so glad that I did. The people at the front desk were very helpful with my luggage and guided me to my room. I went over to Bar Sierra for dinner and and was immediately impressed with the service - particularly Will, who greeted me from behind the bar and made excellent recommendations for both food and beverage. My dinner (kale salad with salmon) and mezcal cocktail were both fantastic. (I lived in NYC for 16 years; so trust me I am a food snob). The chef knows what he is doing. I had a glass of wine post dinner at the wine bar and had an awesome convo with Chip, the Sommelier. Also super knowledgeable and friendly. The room itself is quiet, super clean, the bed is comfortable and most importantly, my dog is happy. Five stars all around.
