Seems to miss the mark. I have tried this restaurant twice and both times they just don’t seem to get it. On my first visit the service was atrocious and they got the orders all wrong — that was a birthday celebration. After I complained they gave me a gift card to come back. Next visit - Delicious cocktail, goat cheese ravioli was amazing, my house salad with grilled chicken… was a dud. A mediocre salad thrown on a plate with some flavorless dry chicken was a disappointment. The plating of the salad looked as if no care was applied to it and the chicken…it’s a big fail - no seasoning. Dessert was a strawberry shortcake which had a very bitter, off-putting after taste. For what they are charging — the meal should be flawless. Tried Ocean Prime twice — won’t be back.

We had heard many good things about Ocean Prime and I thought it was time we checked the place out. We've been to the top restaurants in Sarasota and Bradenton many times over the years so, we were excited to experience one of the new shining stars on the current scene. From the minute we walked into the lobby we were treated like VIPs. We were seated immediately at a great table with what had to be the best waiter in the building, Neal. He was so personable and knowledgeable about everything including wines and specialty cocktails to appetizers to salads/soups to specials/entrees to deserts. One of the best waiters I've ever had!! Every course we had was exceptional not only from a taste standpoint but from a presentation standpoint as well. Bottom line, the whole experience was exceptional and we are already planning our next visit.

My husband took me here on a date night and it was such an amazing experience. We started out with a bread basket with whipped butter that was wonderful. I love the assortment they give you (the pretzel was my favorite). To drink, I order this blackberry cocktail, unfortunately I can’t remember the name. It was very sweet but soooo good. I ordered the grouper, which was served with gnocchi and lobster and my husband order the triple tail served with lobster, carrots, and mashed potatoes (this was a special). Both of our meals were delicious, we were going to share but loved them too much to spare the extra bites. For sides we shared with au gratin potatoes (these were to die for) and brussel sprouts. Then to top it all off we got the Chocolate torte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert. Everything we had was made to perfection. And to make our experience even better our server, Amanda, was so kind and made sure we always had everything we needed.

The staff is lovely. Our sever was a Pro. The problem I have with this place is that our service described their signature sushi roll “ the ocean roll” like it was something so spectacular. It was small, the ahi tuna pieces inside were minute. NOTHING special to warrant a price of $29.00. I go out for sushi all the time. Hideko in Palmetto… the sushi rolls are so big and fancy and fresh. Priced around $16-$18 and I almost can’t finish a whole roll. My friend had the grouper dinner that too a couple minutes to describe. Nothing special and had about 7-8 gnocchi in the bowl. A small price of grouper and came with nothing else for $54.00. Drinks were $28.00-$30.00 each. Check was $171.00 before gratuity. We ended up going out to eat again two hours later. I really wish I had a picture of at least my sushi roll. Pathetic

Ocean Prime in Sarasota absolutely deserves a 5 out of 5. From start to finish, the dining experience was flawless. The ambiance struck the perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, and the service was genuinely attentive without being intrusive. The 10 oz. filet mignon was sliced and cooked medium to perfection—tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The lobster bisque was another highlight, rich and velvety with just the right balance of seafood flavor. I’d highly recommend trying two sides to complete the meal—the portions are ideal for sharing, and each dish is crafted with care. Ocean Prime is a must-visit in Sarasota for anyone seeking top-tier steakhouse dining paired with exceptional service. Wonderful outdoor patio with a distance view of the bay. I’ll definitely be returning.
