- ARAdriaan RemsAug 23, 20252.0We visited Ocean Prime in Philadelphia last night and unfortunately, the overall experience did not live up to expectations. The atmosphere was surprisingly loud, made worse by a noisy party upstairs, which made conversation difficult. Service was the biggest disappointment: it took an extremely long time for champagne to arrive, and while the staff said it would be “on the house,” it still appeared on the bill. Small mistakes kept adding up: an espresso order came out as a cappuccino, and it took asking two different servers to finally correct it. The staff didn’t seem especially attentive, which I could overlook at a casual spot, but not at a restaurant where two entrées and a bottle of wine easily run over $400. The steak itself was well-prepared, but the rest of the dining experience felt unrefined. The wine list is uninspired and seemed poorly thought out, and the staff didn’t appear to have much knowledge about the selections (again, something forgivable at a more casual chain, but disappointing at a place charging $150+ for most bottles). Overall, Ocean Prime delivered an experience that would have been fine at a mid-range restaurant, but at this price point, the service and refinement just weren’t there. Two stars for the steak, but I would not return.
