I brought my Husky here who hurt her paw trying to break through a hole in the gate. I was charged whatever the fee was to bring her in and was told she probably broken her foot. If I wanted to confirm what he thought I’d have to pay $400 for X-rays. He informed me once we confirmed what he said my two options were, 1 get it surgically fixed but that’d be between $8k and $10k or 2 amputate and that’d be about $6k. Neither were feasible for me. They referred me to a non profit that would amputate her leg and sent me home with her leg wrapped. They said I should come back after 2 days to have the wrap changed if she still hadn’t been seen by the people they referred me to, latest on Monday (the accident happened on a Thursday). I decided to bring my dog to Mexico (Mexicali) where I found a specialist. When he unwrapped my dogs leg they found that the stupid vet had simply wrapped her leg, wound open, and thanks to that she’d caught an infection. They’re now treating her infection and will fix her paw. For meds, X-rays, hospitalization (for 1 week) and surgery I’m paying a fraction of what this clinic wanted. ($1,200) I was charged 1k at this stupid clinic just for them to give me two stupid solutions and wrap my dogs wound. The LEAST they could have done would be to stitch the dam wound closed!! They thought I’d get her leg amputated and wouldn’t need to worry about the shitty job they did. Wrong! Best of luck to the animals that come here. I’ll never bring my pet back.

I’ve only used one Dr here but Dr Funes is really great. She’s really smart and great at explaining her recommendations without talking down to you. She always tries the least invasive options first but is well prepared to move on to more complicated procedures if they are necessary. Sadly this facility only does emergency and specialty medicine and doesn’t do primary care.

Life savers, very single one of them. We are caring for a dog that stepped on a bee during his morning walk and started going into shock: vomiting, shutting down, listless, pale tongue and gums. I called OakVet and was told to get him there ASAP so drove like all the other Oakland maniacs. Within seconds of parking at OakVet two staff were at the car and whisked him away. It’s as if they were waiting. Within 30 minutes he was much better and we were able to take him home at the end of the day. Today he is still resting but so much better and resuming his snuggly, playful self. I am so grateful to the whole team, from the folks on the phone, the techs, the vets, the folks in the reception area and even billing! Ya all rock!!🐾🐾🙏❤️
