My family and I had the chance to stay at O'Connell's RV Campground. We stayed for 5 days and 4 nights and this is our review. When we first arrived to get checked in we arrived and parked right at the gate but there wasn't anyone at the shack and I had to physically park the car at the gate thus blocking this entry way for everyone. Once I parked I had to get out and walk to the administration building to get checked in, I think. There was no sign or anything, letting us know what to do. (This was all due to short staff.) Once I got into the building, check-in was pretty easy. I told them my reservation name and they took out the map and showed me how to get to my camping spot and gave me the gate code. Other than that, no other information was provided to me or my family. This will be very important tid bit of information for later in our review. We stayed during the first week of August and I'm not sure if this was a busy time or not for camping but driving to our site we could tell there was a lot of people there for camping and the amount of golf carts are over bearing to say the least. It was like a small city with nothing but golf carts zooming around. The electricity and water outlets are right next to each other. We felt this was a bit of a dangerous situation as why someone would put the electricity right next to the water spout. There's many activities for the kiddos to do like basketball, volleyball, playgrounds, pools, music stage, paddle boats, mini golf, arts and crafts center, kayak, beach, and fishing. You wanted to do paddle boat? Nope it was closed because there wasn't anyone available to rent the boat for us. You wanted to kayak? Nope not happening because someone wasn't available to rent out the kayak for you. Interested in mini golf? Ha! Good luck because no one was available to rent putters and balls for you. You can see how we were disappointed and dissatisfied with our time at O'Connell's RV Campground. Oh yeah and you know the market and pizza restaurant that's conveniently setup for all guests to use in the campground? It's a great place to grab snacks and ice. Forget about that because you wanna know why? That's right, you guessed it! It was closed. It makes no sense to me why those things would be closed when the campground is packed with people. The listed hours of the store/market don't even correlate and it was just closed. This isn't even the worst part of our experience at O'Connell's RV Campground. The camp ground has a strict quiet hours that begins at 10pm but they neglected to advise us of what was going on at the campground during our stay. Every single night starting at 9pm which ran until about 11:30 pm, people would drive around in their golf carts like it was a parade. Honking, yelling, screaming, blasting loud music, and causing a scene every night when my kids are sleeping/adults sitting around a campfire. There were lines and lines of golf carts. It was extremely frustrating and we didn't understand why security was not shutting this down because of the quite hours. Turns out that it was decorate your golf cart and have a parade weekend. It was have been nice to know about this prior to checking in or even at check in. Nothing was provided to us and there was no advance warning. Now everything made sense to us but we still should have been told about this well in advance. We had an OK time at O'Connell's RV Campground but my family and I prefer to be more secluded and on our own. It felt like we were camping at a theme park with none of the attractions being open , it's just not for us. Maybe it is for you and your family. The showers and bathrooms were acceptable but could have used a mid-day cleaning but my guess it was due to understaffing issues and a few nights they closed it down at 10 pm and there was no other signs telling us where we could use the bathroom or shower.

Long time visitor deeply disappointed Been going there for 7 year since it was (yogi bear) with family and friends but this year was the worse experience ever. No hot tubs,Bathrooms did not have paper and where dirty, they had a 11pm ordinance where music should not be played loud and the people across our site where loud, obnoxious and playing music until 4am not allowing us to sleep Front desk closed! No way to reach the campground by phone and no response to their text line. When we mention that to staff next day I was told that wasn't something they could handle since they're only there until 12am and that I should had called police. Not the response I was looking for. After complaining or adressing my concern, it when down hill from there. They where at our camp site looking on everything we where doing, making me and my family uncomfortable. My son had a 12v electric bike and when he tried using it, they stopped him and told him that he couldn't use it. While othere people where riding electric scooters and not once where they stop or told not to use them. They lied about us not following rules when using our golf cart and decide to take it away from us. I have a torn achilles and was not able to walk and I was told that was not their problem and that if I was injured I should have not gone. Once again this is something I've done with my family every year for the past 7 years and was not going to miss it. Poor judgment and service.will not be returning there next year will be looking where to continue my family reunion for years to come

Beware, do not stay here! We just stayed here last night (mid August). Nothing is as advertised on the website, claiming to be fully open and operational daily until Labor Day. No hot tubs. Restaurant closed. Store closed. Front desk closed! No way to reach the campground by phone and no response to their text line. Only 1 pool was opened. The water slides are cautioned taped off, the game room is an empty space with no games. There were no activities as advertised, no nightly movie, the soccer field has no goals, one of the playgrounds is cautioned taped off. The mini golf we were told closed at 4, but we arrived at 3:40 and it was already boarded up and didn’t look to be in use that day. No inflatable obstacle course on the lake. Paddle boats we were told we couldn’t use. No Horseshoes, basketball and volleyball were there, but no equipment so you have to bring your own everything. Dumpsters were overflowing with garbage! And for RV campers, the sites are on a hill , with multiple potholes from makeshift fire pits made by guests and almost impossible to level the RV. We had to switch spaces 3 times before we found one we could use. Not all waste caps were on at the empty sites making the fly situation unbearable. This place is also in the middle of no where, 30 minutes away from major highways, and about 15-20 minutes from any stores, etc, so if not for the fact that the next available campground directly on our route was 3 hours away; we would have left! Paid $84 for this! Extremely overpriced! The only saving grace of this campground was the security guard who was extremely patient with us and very helpful, and yes it has full hookups. But if you’re looking for anything besides just being able to hook up your camper in a fly infested field, go elsewhere!

Longtime Visitor Deeply Disappointed I take my family on a vacation every year, and this time we chose O’Connell’s RV Campground, hoping for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. We rented two cabins and one camper site, spending a significant amount of money to make it special. Sadly, the experience fell far short of expectations. I used to bring my kids here years ago and always had great experiences. But the campground has grown so much that it now struggles with basic cleanliness and maintenance. The bathrooms were filthy—overflowing toilets and standing water left untouched for hours. One pool was broken, and the water slide operated only briefly each day. The cabins were a major letdown. The mattresses were damp and not waterproof, with cloth covers that felt unsanitary. Floors were peeling and lined with food and dirt, and the outlets were dangerously loose. It seems like they rely on guests to clean cabins, with no staff checking behind them. The yard was littered with feminine products, bottle caps, and overflowing fire pits. Other campgrounds manage to hire enough staff to keep things clean—why can’t this one? The atmosphere was chaotic: loud music, speeding golf carts, and even a visibly intoxicated person vomiting near the playground—my grandkids had to step over it. One family member left early because the cabin was so dirty their child kept trying to eat debris from the floor. The playground was outdated and unsafe, clearly from the 1970s and made of metal—not suitable for young children. I had chosen cabins near the park hoping my two autistic grandkids from Missouri could enjoy it, and I’m honestly relieved they couldn’t come. On a positive note, the front desk and store staff were kind and helpful, and the location is convenient. But overall, the campground has declined significantly. If they can’t maintain the property, they should reduce its size. I won’t be returning—and neither will my family. To make matters worse, I’ve left two messages for management and am still waiting for a call back. No one has responded.
