Laurie Herslip did an awesome job helping us plan and oversee our kitchen remodel. She was amazing as was Mickey of Mick's Cabinets! A dream team, for sure! Fabricators Unlimited did a wonderful job with the countertops and backsplash. Highly recommend all of them!

We needed a new front door and decided to work with a "small business" in town because we figured we'd get the best knowledge/help rather than from a big box store. So I called one of their Project Managers (Ron) to put together 3 estimates/designs so we could come in and quick look or grab them and take a look at home. I did this to minimize our time inside with a covid outbreak in the fall. I gave him a week and he said "Yep! No Problem". So we go in a week later and NOTHING had been done. No apologies either that he didnt get to it. Even if only one design was done, we could have easily said what we wanted to change from that design minimizing our time in there. We spent an hour in his office while he put together a few designs. We finally decided on one and gave him the width and height. There was no mention of what size frame would we need. We are contractors by no means so we didnt know there were different frame sizes. In reality Ron should have asked us to get back with him on that measurement or offered for Muss to come measure OR even asked how old our house is because that in itself tells a story. He just went ahead and decided on a 2x6 frame. Only "newer" homes have 2x6 frames...ours was built in the 70s. On Monday, when the construction company that was going to install the door found this framing issue, they went ahead and called Muus (Ron) and explained the problem. The construction company DID NOT have to do this as WE were the ones who ordered it but they went ahead and contacted Muus for us and told them we needed a 2x4 frame. Ron said "should be here Thursday". The construction company calls them Thursday and Muus hadnt even ordered the frame as Ron "forgot" the specific kind of frame that was needed for our door. Im not sure why he didnt go back and look at the invoice or the order that should have the details?? Muus said the new frame would be $700! After we've spent $3500 on the new door. This should (in our opinion) be covered by Muus as it was their mess up. Now we are in contact with the owner giving this business a chance to do right. Talked with the owner (Pat) and they had just ordered the door Thursday after getting a call from the construction company - this should have been done Monday and they shouldnt have needed a follow up call to see if the frame was in (because Ron said it would be in today/thursday). Not only this delay but we also have to pay for this new frame that was going to cost us $700! The best the owner could do was split the $700 with us and he can resell the 2x6 frame and we would get our $350 back in check form. And while it seems nice that theyre splitting the cost, we still dont think its fair and the other $350 should come from Ron as he's messed up numerous times now. So we're still out $350 for who knows how long its going to take for them to sell the 2x6 frame. We wanted to help a small business in our area given the crazy year we've had but theyve lost our business and I'm sure its just a drop in a bucket but word of mouth goes for a lot around here. Very upset as now its likely we're going to also have to pay extra for the construction company to swap out the new frame. So if you still feel like giving them a shot - you MUST know what you're doing because they don't ask the necessary questions and they assume everything else. And if you STILL feel like you're going to give them a shot, maybe just stick with the owner and avoid anyone else because I'm not so sure they know what theyre doing at this point.
