They taped and plugged the holes, sandblasted, powder coated it in a flat black color and wrapped it in plastic. I love how it turned out and absolutely use their service again. They were polite, timely (took a little under a week), had a wide range of colors/textures to choose from and made the whole process very easy. From the drying racks they had, it looks like they do both small orders (like mine) as well as bulk jobs, and I would recommend them for either.

What types of surfaces can you finish?
Anything metal is fair game. Aluminum and steel are the most common surfaces for powder coating.
Can you powder coat delicate, fragile parts or antiques?
Yes, as long as they are metal. We specialize in restoration but urge you to do your research first before coating any valuable antiques to see how their value may be affected.
Can I choose different colors for different pieces?
Yes. Choose as many colors as you'd like. If you need ten different parts coated ten different colors, we can do it.
What colors are available?
We have over 6,000 shades and hues available.
What size can you accommodate?
We have the largest oven (8ft. x 8ft. x 22ft.) in Monterey County. While there are maximum size restrictions, there is no part too small for us to coat.
How long will my finish last?
It depends on several factors, including the type of finish, the surface you're having coated and the purpose of the part.
It's not uncommon for some finishes to last for years, provided they're not abused or subjected to extreme conditions.
Is powder coating the same as weatherproofing?
It depends. No finishing technique is completely impervious to the elements. Unlike solvent-based paint, which can leave microscopic pinholes, powder coating features "cross-linked" materials that provide a waterproof finish.
What is your turnaround time?
That depends on the size of the job. A week is average, but we'll always give you our honest assessment based on our current workload. We generally don't do rush jobs since our emphasis is on long-lasting quality, not speed.
What's the process?
Unlike other metal-finishing techniques that depend on chemicals and solvents, powder coating uses electrically charged, finely ground pigments and resins that adhere to your part's surface.
That part is then heated in a curing oven, which bonds the powder to its grounded surface. This produces a smooth, even finish. You'll be left with a beautiful, uniform coating that looks like paint, but acts like armor.

Powder coating items must withstand a 400 degree cure temperature. You must remove all gaskets, seals, any plastic, etc. Extra charges will apply for parts in need of dismantling and/or assembly. Media blasting is available to remove old paint and finishes and is included in the above price. PURCHASER expressly acknowledges the existence of the pre-existing damage to parts described above and releases Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc. from any liability or loss in connection with such damage, including and exacerbation of the described damage.
Cast aluminum, galvanized parts, and welds may experience out-gassing and/or bubbling in the powder coated finish. Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc. will take every precaution to avoid out-gassing, however Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc. cannot be held responsible for bubbling caused by porous substrates.
Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc. does everything in their power to get your items prepped and coated in a timely fashion. Turn around time’s change daily and we do our best to represent an accurate time frame.
Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc. is not responsible for any items that are damaged during the powder coating or ceramic coating process. Customer is responsible for all interior & exterior cleaning prior to placing items back to use. After completion, any item not picked up within a 30 day period will incur a weekly storage fee. Items not picked up within a 180 day period becomes the property of Monterey Peninsula Powder Coating, Inc.
