If you’re a single mother with multiple children and also work, you can forget about this school. It’s not designed for urban mothers, nor single mothers. The burden of being a learning coach of multiple children will take a toll on your mental health. The teachers aren’t understanding and they definitely don’t care about your personal issues. The teachers pretend to care but they are passive aggressive and I believe they want to push who they consider the weakest link out of the way. Their policy is horrible and should be more flexible as they state on the website which is why I enrolled my children. They are everything but flexible and this school will take a huge toll on your mental health!! As motivated as I was at the beginning of the school year I am now discouraged and so are my children. If you are homeschooling please seek other options!

This experience started off fairly easy but as the weeks went on, not so much. The teacher set up a online meeting so we could discuss a “plan for the next couple of weeks “ for my student. When the time came for the meeting, the teacher “forgot” to include me. I addressed this issue with her via text and she got 2 others involved. Next thing I know, I’m getting tag teamed by her, another teacher and a school counselor. The school counselor was Rude and condescending stating “ i’m sorry that not everybody can be as perfect as you” and “you are supposed to sit with him and teach him”. I’m sorry. That is wrong. I am a learning coach not a teacher. The job of a teacher is to teach. The job of learning coach is to support and encourage. Next, they are supposed to have live learning lessons every day as they advertise. That is wrong. They had one maybe two a week. Not good for teaching my student. Again I am a learning coach and not a teacher. When I decided to pull him out of the school, I gave them his last day. On that last day there was a science project that was due. Kind of like a portfolio type thing. Neither my fifth grade student or I know how to do a science portfolio so I sent an email to ask. It took them over 24 hours to get back in touch with me only to tell me that they will discuss it in the zoom meeting later that day. My student was not able to be in that zoom meeting due to other obligations at that time. The teacher did not offer up any information about the science project/portfolio that was due that day. Needless to say, it did not get done on his last day. He is now in a different program through his school and he likes it better and I like it better. I strongly recommend that you really look into different online schools if this is the way you choose to go. I do not recommend Missouri Connections Academy at all.
