I accidentally locked myself out of a house I had just moved into, forgetting to put my keys in my pocket, I was leaving for work and turned the knob on lock on the front door and walked out, It was 6am. The first guy who called me back would not give a price not even a range, I declined. A minute later I get a call from the same company different number and a different person, he said not a problem asked me a few questions including if the deadbolt was locked, I told him it was not, I just walked out and the deadbolt requires a key to lock from outside, and he said $100 flat fee. The original guy called back, he says he will be at my house in 25-30 minutes, I said great. After 2-3 more calls to find out when he was arriving he arrived an hour after the call. He started to use a bag to inflate and force the door to open enough he could get to the latch, but after he pumped twice he said the dead bolt was locked, he can't open it, he would need to drill out deadbolt and replace it, but he only had black, or I could go to home depot and get my own if I wanted it to match, and then he would rekey to match. I told him the deadbolt was not engaged, he said it must be, and quoted another $136 to do what he just said needed done to fix it. I declined, he asked for $29 for house call, I said when I get back into my house I could. He left. As I was panicking to get going I found my LR Window was cracked open, a piece of wood in the track so it would only open so far. I found a small rake in the back yard, I was able to twist the rake ends to catch on the wood to pull it out of the track and got it opened. I used a cinder blocker to step up and get through the Window. When I got to the front door I unlocked the knob, and the dead bolt was not engaged. I felt they were not honest with me, and wasted over an hour of my time. I gave 2 stars (I know, generous you say) but because they did respond and show early in the morning.
