I’ve owned my own swimming pool maintenance and repair company for about three years now. In this business, finding a reliable wholesale vendor for parts and supplies is critical. Unfortunately, my repeated experiences with Midwest Pool & Supply (both the Campbell location and the store by the Nature Center) have been consistently disappointing.
The staff, with the exception of John (who is helpful and professional), are generally rude, slow, and impersonable. It often feels like your time means nothing to them. When you bring in a water sample, you can expect to wait anywhere from 20–45 minutes, only to be handed a treatment plan that’s both expensive and ineffective. By contrast, Leslie’s can test and provide a treatment plan in less than five minutes, and SCP can source parts for me at about 20% less cost in under 30 minutes.
What’s most frustrating is the overall attitude — it feels like you’re inconveniencing them by trying to give them your business. As a business owner myself, I’ve never understood how a company can act like taking a customer’s money is a burden.
This will be the last time I ever do business with Midwest Pool & Supply. I strongly caution others before shopping here. There are several other vendors in Springfield who offer better customer service, better pricing, and who actually care about their customers — this simply isn’t one of them.
