We love Connections Academy. After 9 years and 2 graduates, we appreciate the willingness of the teacher to help, the flexibility for our lifestyle and the high academic standards. Now it does depend on the parent to be proactive and coach the student. Both our graduates have close to full rides after their test score. I highly recommend trying MICA but remember you as a parent are a part of the learning process.

I have a 6th-grade student at Michigan Connections Academy, and it has been amazing for us. My child needed a flexible schedule because he is a child actor. We are able to work his coursework around training, auditions, and filming or performing perfectly. He attended a regular public school through 5th grade. Connections has been wonderful. They immediately set up a 504 plan to ensure the accommodations he needed were put in place. They have a gifted and talented English and language arts program that has been phenomenal - he is learning so much more than in any other English or gifted class he had previously. Michigan Connections allowed him to dual enroll and stay in the county gifted math program - where he is finishing high school algebra 1 and 2 this year (he will also be able to dual enroll in college classes as needed when he is in high school.) Since he was in a previous immersion program, they placed him in high school Spanish 2, which has been a perfect fit. Even though we were a completely new family to the school, they went above and beyond to ensure that my son had the courses that were best for him. The principal of the middle school is phenomenal - making sure all of this was taken care of. We have a bi-weekly 1 on 1 call with his homeroom to the teacher to make sure that both of us are managing what is needed in the program to succeed. The course teachers are fantastic. In 6th grade, each class has a 1-hour live lesson each week, but teachers are available by email or meetings at any other time that is needed. There are additional resources for tutoring if needed, and there are many clubs and activities the kids can participate in. I am so grateful that we found Michigan Connections Academy. My son in excelling in the program and having a phenomenal school year.

This is our 3rd year with Michigan Connections Academy. Only school we have used for our granddaughters. We are doing 3rd grade and kindergarten. The school works well for us. I think a lot about how well your kids do, is how involved you are in their schooling. Both girls are doing really well and working above grade level. We are their learning coaches and we are right beside them much like a teacher would be through out their day. The teachers are awesome and very willing to help any time you might need it. We go on many of the field trips and all the kids are very well behaved.

Horrible school...my son went from A's to failing...now that he is back in public school he is all A's. Also once they find out your putting them back in public school they block you from viewing their grades and don't let the kid work on assinments. Plus most the teachers are lazy and not willing to take time and work with the student. This school sets a kid up for failure.
