Merrill's Bookshop in Hallowell, Maine, is an old-fashioned, used bookstore with a selection of tomes that cover almost 500 years! For more than 30 years, avid readers and serious collectors from all over the world come to us for rare and antique books. We also have a great inventory of scholarly and signed volumes.

My recommendation is to go without any expectations of what you may find. Did that today and walked back to Augusta with a backpack full of books that I’m really excited about and probably wouldn’t have seen anywhere else! The store is right on the rail trail. They only accept cash or check.
