After almost two years I believe it’s time to leave a review. My neighbor across the street was getting a pool in by McKinney and thought we could get a better price if we did it at the same time. Nope. I have an electrical easement so I had to go with a rectangular pool. The sales rep came out and we discussed the situation. I told him I wanted to go as far as possible away from my house to fit in a 30x15 pool with an attached spa. I wanted it as close to the easement as possible. Another person came out and staked the pool but did the opposite and measured it from my house and not the fence putting the pool approximately 4’ from my back door. There would be no way I could get my wife’s mother out to the patio in her wheelchair. I told the person staking he made a mistake and he moved it as I had originally planned. I got a call from the sales rep quit annoyed who said, “I heard you moved the stakes!” Then proceeded to tell me that would cost more. Then while after the pool was dug I asked the worker on the skid loader to please level the area close to the fence as it had been. He refused. ( I have a pitchers mound by the fence now) Then it came time to pour the slab. There was the slab for the pump and same sales rep measured an area for it leaving a gap from the house leaving it open for weeds. I told him to finish pouring it to the house which would have been 4”x5’. He replied, “oh that will cost you more.” My wife and I went to the business office to pick out tile. We walked up to a man sitting at one of the desk just briefly to later meet up in the room filled with sample tiles. Later I learned that man was the owner. He never introduced himself or had the courtesy to formally introduce himself or stand to meet my wife. Then it came to setting down the stone around the the pool. You would think they would care if pieces matched up and they didn’t. Several pieces had grinder cuts the the same sales rep argued with me about and tried to pass them out as natural striations! Then the color time around the inside border of the pool. Several pieces up to 3 tikes were facing the same way which looked odd when all the others were different. They just grabbed what was in the box not caring if they matched. We asked the Tile man if he could mix them up and he did. Something that we were lucky we caught before they set. Then I called to say my fence they tore down was still not up and my yard was a muddy mess. The same sales rep told me sharply that was in the contract and if I had read it, it stated that was on me and not their problem. Once the job was finished I expected the owner, Mr. McKinney to come by or at least call to see if everything was done correctly and if we were satisfied. Nope, it was as if they didn’t care. There was a blemish at one spot in the deep end that looked like a footprint. The sales rep said it was a normal thing and blew it off. To sum it all up the sales rep was more than arrogant and the owner was completely detached to the customer satisfaction. The pool is nice but personally with the whole experience I wished I had used a different company.

McKinney Pools did an exceptional job from start to finish. When we began our pool project, we did our homework—speaking with five different companies before making a decision. What immediately set Seth and the McKinney team apart was their loyalty to their customers. Everyone we spoke with who had worked with McKinney emphasized not just the quality of the build, but the long-term service. They mentioned how McKinney stayed in touch, even during the off-season or when unexpected issues occurred. That level of commitment stuck with us. Our personal experience echoed everything we heard. If you’ve ever done a major project with contractors, you know things don’t always go perfectly—often through no one’s fault. But what mattered most to us was how McKinney handled those moments. They were always ready with solutions, communicated openly, and stood by their work with integrity and transparency. If something needed to be addressed, they made it right. No hesitation. Spending that kind of money on a pool naturally comes with some nerves, but McKinney did an incredible job walking us through each step and putting our minds at ease. My husband and I asked countless questions—and they answered every one of them with patience and clarity. Now, three months in, we can confidently say building this pool was one of the best decisions we’ve ever made. We still use McKinney’s pool service team, and their follow-through is just as strong after the project as it was during. We would recommend McKinney Pools over and over again

This review has taken me a while to write. We had several quotes for our backyard pool. We ultimately decided to go with McKinney due to neighbors and a family member recently ( at the time) using them as well. The initial meeting went great and the drawing of my pool- perfection. I am happy with the design however that’s where it ended. I felt that as soon as they received our check, communication fell off. We got the what to expect book two weeks before the pool was completed which took three times as long as quoted due to supply issues during Covid which is understandable. The build- fine. The equipment however was not put in correctly, electrical issues and multiple warranty calls. I finally had to have another company come out to fix the many electrical and plumbing issues bc most were not under warranty. This pool cost me at least 5,000 dollars after the completion bc so many things were wither broken, not put in right or acts of God. I really wish I had done my homework and thoroughly researched each company, warranty and compared apples to apples. McKinney at first appears great bc the add on stuff others offer is basic there and included. That’s what got me. I was a new pool owner and “ pool school” was literally like listening to a foreign language and after he left I had to figure it out on my own. You’ll never know when anything is actually happening. You’ll just hear ppl in your backyard then not see anyone for weeks. I have attempted to post reviews many times but I’ve either received an email asking to remove it with an apology or it has been deleted. Go look elsewhere where they don’t become thoroughly defensive with every phone call, email…

We got estimates from 3 other companies. From the start, McKinney pools was easy to communicate with. The receptionist was nice and helpful. After having a second meeting with McKinney…. I felt satisfied having them build our pool. My husband works from home so he was able to be present as the build was happening. They built it quick and they did a fantastic job. We are 100% satisfied with the service and the build of our pool. Thanks to all of the team for your patience with all of our questions.

First, I will start by saying I did not go with Mckinney pools for my pool builder. However, it was not because they did anything wrong or were over priced. Working with Mckinney was a great experience. They were very responsive and made all the changes and adjustments to the plan we asked. Their design is essentially what we went with with another builder. The design was unique and a testiment to the time and effort they put into their designs, not giving the same plan over and over again. They kept in contact as we received other quotes but were not overbearing which i greatly appreciated. I would highly recommend working with Mckinney pools for a quote, if not your build. Mckinney was very competitive in their pricing and warranties. Their showroom has great examples of the materials to use for your build. If I were to build a pool again, I will be reaching out to Mckinney for another quote and potential build. Update: 10 weeks in to our project with our chosen builder of Avree custom pools in Dickinson and absolutely regret not using McKinney.
