This unit replaces a failing Dometic unit on a sailboat. It has performed well so far. Interestingly, in Southern California the unit is used more often for heating in winter than cooling in summer. I understand that the reversing valve must be exercised periodically to prevent failure and it would be nice if the unit would cycle it automatically once in while. While the Dometic units MarinAire units are very similar there were some subtle differences in size and location of outlets that required some adjustment but I am overall happy with the result and the performance of the unit.
Super fast shipping and the unit comes well packed. They are heavy! Had the unit installed for over a year and had no issues whatsoever. We did opt for the old LED display because of sizing. We did use the digital display to get rid of the annoying setting where the unit turns on from time to time to sense the temp. Thats not great in the winter when its just blowing cold air across our bunk. Now it only turns on when the temp sensor senses the need. We installed the longer temp sensor so it was reading from within the cabin and not the cabinet where it was installed. Great unit and very happy with it.
I purchased the 6,000 Btu/h Self Contained Marine Air conditioner and Heat pump 110-120V/60Hz last year. The DIY install was very easy and the unit ran flawlessly for the duration of the 2025 season. Very quiet and used power as advertised. I’m very pleased with the unit. Installed in a Freedom 35’ sailboat.

I have purchased and installed 2 units from Marinaire in recent years for the same reason in two different boats we have owned. First a 42' Egg Harbor and currently a 50' Post, as supplemental cooling for the salon since they were both built in NJ and needed more capacity on the Gulf Coast for our 95 degree plus summers. Both have worked perfectly and provided an easy solution to the problem.

We bought and installed a Marinaire 14,000 roughly 15 months ago for our 40' Cabo. This unit wasn't ran for roughly 2 months during our wintertime down hear in south florida, other than that, the A/C has ran and never been turned off. Zero issues! We wanted to leave a honest review based on time of use with no issues.Give them a call, maybe your experience will be as good as ours.
