Sorry, but my experience did not meet the hype. There are a few things that really bothered me:
1) There were flies everywhere. Half the time I waited/ate I had to swat the flies away.
2) The favored pork was not to my expectation. It was deep fried and not grilled. The slices were thin and sliced small to seem like a big portion but it was not. Some pieces were hard due to being deepfried.
3) I get that you have to charge for additional pepper, but at least give a good portion.
Pros:
1) $5 discount for first time customer and using their app.
2) Fair pricing. The quality may not be there to my expectations, but you get what you pay for.
Overall, I would not go back. I was hoping for a more Hmong New Year vibe. But I got a Ua Neeb type of food vibe.
Place order papaya salad it was good. Chicken and rice was spicy. We did say spicy. I thought it was dipping sauce came with it. Alot of peppers flakes on top Chicken. Also chicken didn't look like the pictures with cabbage and clintro
I didn't like the facts we waited 15-16 min for the food. People who was behind us was getting their food first. Next time we ordering ahead of time.
First time stopping by, overall a solid experience.
There’s plenty of seating both outdoors and indoors, which made it easy to find a spot to relax. There’s also a store right next door where you can grab drinks or extra snacks.
We spent a total of $33 (including tip) for:
Pork belly with sticky rice and chili sauce
Sausage with sticky rice and chili sauce
The chili sauce was incredibly spicy and absolutely delicious, definitely a highlight! We grabbed a drink from the store for just a buck, which was a great deal.
The sausage, unfortunately, was overcooked and a bit too fried for our taste, so we wouldn’t order that again. But the pork belly was a generous portion and really tasty.
Parking is fairly easy, which is always a plus.
I gave this place a try after seeing it on TikTok. I ordered the spring rolls, and unlike others I’ve had before, these came with pork which I don’t eat. The pork itself didn’t have much seasoning or flavor. The shrimp was also cut in half instead of served whole. The peanut sauce was good, but overall, AC Deli still wins for me more affordable, better value, and full shrimp in their spring rolls.
Me and my lady rolled up to Malee’s Kitchen and right away we saw two experienced eaters like ourselves with tray fulls of food walking to their car. That got us hyped 😂
We ordered the Nab Vam (rainbow jelly drink), egg rolls with peanut sauce and sweet and sour, we also got the pork belly plate with sticky rice and chili sauce. Everything was flavorful, fresh, and we felt like we had gotten a good amount of food. I made a TikTok and got some mixed reactions on “authenticity.” Personally, I believe popular ethnic restaurants often meld together broader cultural foods to make dishes that are approachable and drive customer visits. I actually appreciate that — and what stood out even more was how they took the time to educate us on what we were eating and how to pronounce it, so we could order with more confidence next time.
I didn’t ask about vegetarian options since I don’t have any dietary restrictions, but I did notice the people in front of us asked for a few ingredients to be omitted from their egg rolls. That makes me think they’re flexible, and honestly, most ethnic cuisines already have a natural ability to adapt dishes to vegetarian because of cultural cooking practices that grew out of limited access to animal protein.
When I went up to compliment them, the lady working the truck was funny, genuine, and cracking jokes, she told me she’d see us for dinner because we’d be craving it later 😂. That kind of hospitality goes a long way.
Most importantly, the place was extremely clean. No sticky tables, no food on the ground, just a great setup with good music and a relaxed vibe.
Overall, it was an awesome experience and definitely a spot we’ll be coming back to.
