Lowrie's did a great job on our patio and landscaping. Dawn the designer is awesome and easy to work with and did an amazing job on the design. The gentlemen that did the work were professional and did a great job on everything. They answered our questions with respect. We couldn't be happier with the quality of the work. Would highly recommend this company.
Sincerely
Happy Customer
We hired Lowries to build retaining walls from our walkout basement. They told us it was a 3 week job and it took over 5 months to complete. From the very beginning this has been a huge headache, causing us endless nights of stress and frustration. The sad part is we did our due diligence - we received several quotes for this project. But, you came recommended to us. You have been in business for 40 some years and even won a Best of the Best Award in the area. We definitely expected more from your company.
We feel like most of the issues we experienced should not have even been issues in the first place.
-The design process was a struggle trying to get on the same page with the designer. That should have been our first red flag.
-We asked the owner at the very beginning if permits and engineered drawings were required and he said no. After being in business for 40+ years you would think you would know the building code and/or reach out to the township but we received a stop to work order due to your lack of planning which caused even more delays.
-Our project was quoted with a block that wouldn’t work for our design.
-Then the block that you suggested might not have been the best for our design after all since it couldn’t be easily cut
-We clearly had the septic area identified, but nothing was done to protect the line coming from our house. Your negligence shouldn’t have cost us even more money and put us out of running water here for over 24 hours. Any other reputable company would have repaired this and taken care of the customer as you were the ones who broke it. Again, another issue that could have been avoided.
-The design we agreed upon was altered without our consent (the location of the stairs specifically). We chose not to have you rip out an entire days worth of work and move forward because we did not want to be that customer. We had every right to have you rebuild that wall. Again, this wouldn’t even have come up if the wall was built to the original design.
-The bar height wall was built to hide gaps in the block, gaps that were so large my son could fit his finger in them. If the installation team would have built the wall correctly, the gaps would have only been ⅛” max not upwards of ⅜”. The Oaks rep said each block should be measured and shimmed. The installer said he didn’t have time to measure every block, that it would take too long and half the pallet would be wasted.
-The landing had to get redone 3 times.
-You relied on another contractor to make decisions about the final step placement being level with the shown finish height. Yet again, you didn’t take responsibility but blamed someone else.
-When the wall failed up here by the garage you tried to use heavy machinery to push it upright, putting a band-aid on it instead of building it correctly in the first place.
-You asked for more money before the job was even complete and said you weren’t coming back until you received 75%. You went outside the contract and we felt we had no other option than to pay if we wanted our job completed, even though the other payments were made as soon as they were requested.
We’ve hired multiple contractors for work around our house and this was by far the worst experience. Definitely don’t recommend them
My husband spent hundreds on “garden/top soil” for my raised garden beds. Lowrie’s specifically told him he didn’t need to add any compost or anything else to the soil. The dirt is absolutely terrible. Clay and dust. It looks like cement blocks in my beds. Nothing has produced in my garden and I have gardened for ten years. I even purchased new plants and planted them weeks later to test the soil and those plants also died/were stunted. An entire season was wasted, not to mention hundreds of dollars on the plants and dirt. We will have to dig it all out next year and buy proper soil elsewhere. Extremely upsetting.

We used lowries a year ago and we're happy with what we received for screened top soil so we ordered 10 yards instead of 3 this year. Since they can only deliver 5 yards at a time we had to pay twice the delivery charge, ok and the delivery guy was very professional and courteous. However, what we got this year is clay. Very disappointed with this delivery, not much grass growing, sinks in when you step on it and trying to mow is just a dust storm.
Lisa called me today and tried to make things right with our order and said thy did change where they get the topsoil from since May. I appreciate the call and the offer and have edited my review to reflect such.
After 88 40 pound bags of top soil from home depot and ace hardware just under another $300, we have grass growing.
