About

Italian RestaurantBar
Louie Bossi is not your typical chef. Growing up in an Italian household in New York he remembers the aromas of roasted garlic and fresh meatballs sizzling from his family’s kitchen. Raised by a single mother juggling three jobs, Bossi taught himself to cook at the age of eight. Working his way from dishwasher to cook at the local pizzeria Bossi developed a love for the art of pizza making. Relocating to Florida in 2000, Bossi landed his first job with Big Time Restaurant Group as grill cook. Exploring different positions within their popular portfolio of restaurants Chef Bossi proved to be one of the hardest working and most inspired chefs in the company, which earned him the coveted Executive Chef position at Big City Tavern. Bossi's D.I.Y. approach has led him to obtain a certification from Chef Brian Polcyn in the ancient art and technique of charcuterie, as well as becoming a Master Pizza Maker from The Scuola Italiana Pizzaoili in San Francisco.

We visited Louis Bossi recently with a large group — 16 of us — and I have to say, the service was honestly better than expected for such a big party. The staff did a great job keeping things organized, and everyone was attentive and pleasant throughout the evening. That part definitely deserves some praise. As for the food, it was just… okay. Not bad, but not great either. Maybe it’s me and I’m not the best judge, but I felt the dishes didn’t quite live up to all the hype surrounding this place. The flavors were fine but nothing memorable, especially for a restaurant with such a strong reputation. One thing that stood out, unfortunately, was the pricing — the food felt quite expensive for what we got. I don’t mind paying a premium for a great meal, but in this case, the value just wasn’t there. Parking is also something to keep in mind. Street parking is pretty limited in the area, and while there’s a garage nearby, it requires a bit of a walk to get to the restaurant. Not a deal-breaker, but something worth noting if you’re planning a visit. Overall, it wasn’t a bad experience by any means — the atmosphere was nice and the service was on point — but the food and pricing didn’t wow me. There are definitely other Italian spots out there that offer better value and more memorable flavors, in my opinion. Still, that’s just my personal experience, and I’d encourage others to try it and see what they think for themselves.

I wanted a fun, easy dinner in a lively spot; instead, this visit was work. After being seated, it took at least 15 minutes before anyone took our order. Several staff, including a manager, walked by during that stretch. That set the tone. All night I felt I had to ask for everything at once because I had no idea when our server would return. I also received a dirty knife, which didn't help first impressions. Food was uneven. The seafood pasta arrived hot but salty. The chicken parmesan was barely lukewarm, as was the side of spaghetti, and part of the chicken was actually on the cold side. The pizza was a saga: the one we ordered was “unavailable,” the backup our server suggested was also “unavailable,” and we finally landed on a cheese pizza. Credit where it’s due—the cheese pizza was good. Prices made the misses sting: $33 for the limp chicken parm, $37 for the salty seafood pasta, and $22 for the fallback pizza. There was some kind of show going on, and I understand that can pull attention in different directions. Still, we paid full price for what felt like a half-strength experience. Bottom line: frustrating service, inconsistent execution, and premium pricing that was not backed up by the meal we received. Unlikely to return.

Good food, horrific service. I was visiting my parents in FL and came here with a party of five, excited for a nice meal. Very busy Sun night but didn't wait long for a table, was sat right away in the patio. The food? Actually good. But that’s where the kindness ends. The service was beyond terrible — it was an insult. Out of everyone in my group, I was the one the waiter targeted. I’m guessing it was because I’m LGBT — I was the only one in the group. If you work in service, you WILL encounter people like me. Basic respect is not optional.. My requests were ignored, forgotten, and I was treated like I didn’t exist. The waiter wouldn’t let me finish my sentences and cut me off the moment I tried to give my drink or food order. When I received the wrong drink and politely pointed it out, he responded with eye rolls, huffs, and walked away with a terrible attitude. He acted like serving me was a huge burden. I didn’t send my drink back — I actually feared he might tamper with it (spit in it or something else- he seemed the type). That’s the kind of nasty vibe he gave off. This was not just bad service; it was outright disrespect, bordering on disdain. Good food can’t save a restaurant that treats customers like an afterthought. If you expect to be acknowledged, cared for, or even simply treated like a human being, look elsewhere. This place fails spectacularly. I left feeling angry and disrespected. Never again. P.S. I regret not going straight to the manager that night. These issues need to be addressed immediately so they don’t get brushed aside. A Google review can be dismissed, but when a manager has to confront behavioral problems on a busy night, that’s when real change can happen. If you come across a rude server, address it immediately by bothering the manager about it.

We used to go once a month to the Louis Bossi on Las Olas, they have a beautiful terrace, great promos and it is mom’s favourite! Unfortunately, the last 2 times have been incredibly disappointing. From the bad attitude of the male hostess with blue eyes to the inexistant service and cold pizza. That’s far from what it used to be. Our waiter Julian or should we call him Casper, came to see us only once and disappeared, his coworker saw me looking at our COLD oven pizzas that stayed on the counter for 17 minutes and finally decided to bring it to us. When we requested the check his coworker said he was sorry and someone else brought it to us. Our waiter came to grab the last plate on the table and seemed annoyed by the same service we did not receive. I am pretty sure he could feel how disappointed we were but couldn’t care less. There are so many people with their hands behind their back and no system to take care of their customers, tables full of empty plates. The restaurant wasn’t full. It was a mid week afternoon. My dad got hit on the front head by the suiter serving the coffee at the table next to us and our poor neighbour got HOT coffee all over him. Nobody checked after any of the tables. I think the hiring management should focus less on looks and priorities experience and positive attitude! Without putting everyone in the same basket, some are very good and have been there for a while but the establishment culture is in danger. To TOP that (literally), dirt and dust is falling out of the ventilation system. I like mushrooms on my pizza, not falling down the ceiling. Really concerning for the food safety and Sanitation.

This was, unfortunately, the worse dining out experience I have ever had. Which is disappointing because I had heard good things about this restaurant. We were a group of 11 people and we had a reservation for 8:30. We were in fact sat at 8:30 which was good. The waiter brought us drinks and bread, but we sat there for over an hour before our order was even taken. The waiter was much more preoccupied with the table of ladies (40s?) next to us who were ordering multiple rounds of drinks. We were a little irritated that it was already 9:30 before we ordered because one of our party members still had to drive to Orlando that night for an event in the morning, but this was a special night for us that she wanted to be there for. We did in fact tell the waiter about this after waiting for an hour. Another hour went by and we still didn’t have our food so myself and another woman in our party approached the manager (we physically got up and approached him at the wait stand). We were very polite, but he seemed unconcerned and said he’d go check on the food. It came out at 10:30, and the manager did not come check on us again, which was frustrating. Everything was cold and we just wanted to go home so we asked for boxes immediately. At this point, I was already having a terrible experience which was then made worse when the heavily intoxicated woman at the table next to us completely flashed her chest to the restaurant, which was the last straw for me, as she was not asked to leave and was severed MORE drinks after this endeavor. I asked for the manager again and he again acted like I was inconveniencing him and being ridiculous, especially because he acted like he couldn’t do anything about the intoxicated woman. He did not seem apologetic at all. He came back and told me he took our drink off the tab, which seemed like a cheap gesture as only 4 of the 11 of us had drinks, and they were all nonalcoholic. After he told me this, I was still being respectful, but I asked if this was all he was going to do, and he physically walked away while I was still speaking and the waiter had to grab him and turn him back around. I was starting to get frustrated at the disrespect. He exasperatedly said he’d see if there was anything else he could do. He ended up taking off our two cheapest entrees so our party still paid a $250 bill for a two hour wait, cold food, and witnessing a crude act as a table of 19 year old young ladies. We paid and left, and we passed the manager as we were leaving and he still didn’t apologize or act anyway other than that we were an inconvenience. I would never consider dining here again.
