So the technicians at this location are great. They are very helpful and courteous.
As for the company itself. God forbid your vehicle breaks down and goes into a shop. They are supposed to give your mechanic a bypass pin within 72hrs after the mechanic gives them the affidavit. Well im on day 4 of missing work and my vehicle being in the shop not being worked on because Lifesafer has yet to provide my mechanic with a bypass pin. This is the second time they have done this. In late July they still hadn't provided the certified shop with a pin after a week. So I was paying for ubers to and from the shop to blow. And ubers for my child to get to school. Meanwhile Im missing work on top of this. I cant uber to and from 8-10 clients a day in dc from Alexandria, VA daily while waiting for Lifesafer to provide a pin. This is putting my job of 10yrs at risk. This week I spent hrs on the phone with the company regarding the pin for my mechanic. They stated they have the form and are processing still and it could still take up to 72hrs. Its been four days and this is unacceptable. This device costs $100 for the monthly calibration and when we need work done to our vehicles we shouldn't have to be without a vehicle for up to a week or more. Only because it could take Lifesafer a week to provide a pin to the mechanic or not even provide one at all like my situation in late July. This is a prime example of why mechanics do not want to work on vehicles with interlock installed in them. Lifesafer wants their $100 monthly, immediately after calibration. Therefore our mechanic should receive a bypass pin immediately after they fax the affidavit. Them failing to provide a bypass pin to my mechanic in late July caused me to fall behind on bills. And here I am again 4 days without a car calling out of work and my mechanic still waiting for Lifesafer to provide the pin. Back to getting ubers for my child to go to school knowing I will not be getting a paycheck next Friday because Lifesafer cant provide a certified mechanic shop a bypass pin in a timely manner.

Terrible communication! Customer service over the phone is a long wait, online chat is only available during certain times. Went to have it installed and then they changed it to another location without telling me. And just the other day i went to get it serviced and a note on the front window saying they moved to a new location. And also they dont tell you when they raise the “shop fee” on you, and be aware they do charge a daily loss protection fee to your monthly costs which they also dont tell you about. Plus they added a reporting fee now! a rip off company!

This includes instructions on proper usage, what to avoid prior to using the device, and tips for ensuring it operates effectively. Please do not hesitate to ask your certified installer any questions you may have about your car breathalyzer and our services.
How much does an ignition interlock device cost?
The cost for installing a LifeSafer ignition interlock device, also known as a car breathalyzer, usually ranges from $70 to $150. This is a one-time installation fee that you'll pay at the beginning of your lease period for the device. You'll pay this fee directly to the service center that installs the device in your vehicle. Additional fees are usually incurred every time you must have your device calibrated and vary by state.
How does an interlock device/car breathalyzer work?
After the device is set up, drivers need to breathe into the car breathalyzer's mouthpiece to provide a sample. This device checks the driver’s breath alcohol concentration (BAC) to measure it is within legal limits. Typically, if the BAC is below .025, the driver is then clear to insert their keys and start the vehicle.
