I went in Friday to ask about chemicals for a new pool, and the (very kind) employee told me it’d be best to come back the next day with a sample of water to test.
So I went back the next day with a sample, and the crew working was…less than kind. When I walked in, one woman — who was, I guess, just off her shift — just stared me down for a minute before asking “Water test?” I nodded, and she threw her head back and said “that side.” Okay, cool. I go to the back desk and was helped (if that’s what you can call it) by a younger woman. She took my info, then presented a cup for me.
Look, I’m a pool newbie. I don’t know the process. So I cracked open my bottle of pool water and started pouring slowly, telling her to “tell me when” enough was enough. She proceeded to give me the “hurry up” gesture with her hand, and then laugh it off when the younger male employee called her out for being rude. She continued to laugh like it wasn’t an issue because she was apparently putting in her two weeks soon.
I’ll give the guy credit for calling her out and helping me collect my pool chemicals, but her “hurry up” gesture just made me want to hurry up and get out of the store. Maybe next time I’ll drop almost $200 at a local pool store instead.

Absurd price markups on basic things, home depot down the road sells the products for far less. The exact same products, or close alternatives, for 25% to upward of 300% markup. Want to support the little guy but even employees have told me not to buy into the bad deals.
