- KPKevin PoirierOct 13, 20251.0There are several reasons why Leslie's is a poor choice for your pool needs. The obvious is their exorbitant pricing. On 10/10/2025, the price of a Hayward Salt Cell Cleaning Stand in their store was over $70.00. Online, $75. The average price is $45. The phosphate reducer was over $65, which is again higher than the average price online of $30. I understand that the convenience of instant purchase may warrant a higher price, but that's just over the top. The bigger issue is the turnover with the staff. It seems like a new person is behind the counter every 2 months. My local pool store (New England Pools) knows me and often recalls the specifics of my pool. The third, and probably the biggest reason, is that in almost every visit, they will attempt to sell you chemicals and kits that are simply not needed. If you're clueless about managing your water, you're a prime target for spending hundreds of dollars on unnecessary chemicals. Hopefully, like me, you have other options for testing water and buying parts — preferably a 'mom and pop' or regional franchise, versus this corporate snake.
