The workers here are pleasant, easy to work with.
Upon moving in, I was excited to live at Landmark, as the neighborhood itself is beautiful and the apartment set up is nice. Although I’ve had many issues that were unforeseen, making my living space extremely uncomfortable.
Pests: During the winter months, I would see at least five silverfish in my unit a week. When the summer months began, my building was EXTREMELY INFESTED WITH ROACHES. I could not go a day without killing at least six of them, and pest control had to treat our entire building weekly. This didn’t solve anything, as I would see a litter of them in the hallway every night I came home. Also, they are quick to tack on a $25 fee any time your apartment is not “prepared” for treatment, although treatment schedules are not always communicated. After rearranging and treating my apartment myself, the problem persisted.
Smoking: Beware that this apartment complex allows smoking and not all units are properly ventilated. Although I purchased an air purifier, there have been many days/ nights in which I’ve choked on smoke coming from my neighbor’s unit, making me physically ill.
I have also had other minor issues such as rowdy neighbors, thin walls, and a lack of visibility at night (due to my square being pitch black with broken streetlights).

I had a great experience living at Landmark. The neighborhood is quiet and friendly, which made it feel very comfortable and safe. The leasing staff were welcoming and supportive throughout my stay, always approachable whenever I needed assistance. Overall, it has been a positive and enjoyable place to live.

Even though the process took a little longer than I expected to see the apartment, overall I had a nice and smooth experience. Emery got me situated and was following up with me throughout the process. Also the other staff members were also helpful.

BUYER BEWARE
I have lived on this property for many years. I have loved the location, the environment, and the people I have met. Our neighbors have become some of the most important people in our lives. This community has given me a lot.
This is not that same property. We, as tenants, have always had rotating staff in the central office, but in the last 6 months it has been constant. Our latest property manager, Kia, has begun enforcing new monitoring programs and policies to find ways to make more money off of residents. We went from a community to a commodity. The property went from a community to a compound. Every other week we have some new paperwork to fill out, homework to do, or aggressive and threatening emails to read. It has become relentless.
It used to be possible to make this place a home. I loved it. I said we wouldn’t move again unless it was over 200 miles away. I met my best friends here. We give the maintenance crew (who are all awesome) christmas cards. I know the names of the pets that walk in the morning. My neighbors are coming to my wedding next year.
We have had 200 dollar price increases and we continued to stay. We have had interactions with the police due to other residents and we have stayed. Our apartment flooded due to poor repairs and we stayed. I am still waiting on repairs that I requested over 3 years ago, and I continued to stay. It was always enough to convince ourselves that the people, our friends, were enough to make it worth it.
To be clear, the following problems are not directly related to the business of Barrett and Stokely, but rather the individual actions of one of their employees, Kia, in their personal capacity.
In the last few months we have: had large hideous red signs plastered around the property due to Kia’s actions; had to create a new account to give a 3rd party our personal data to opt OUT of a fee due to Kia’s actions; had to write several emails to the property owners to resolve ongoing issues due to Kia’s decision; had aggressive emails related to anything from parking to trash from property management; had to hang a paper hanger in our car to prevent it from being towed with a $500 non-refundable and non-reimbursable charge, even if it is due to the office or tow company’s, or Kia’s negligence - due to Kia’s actions.
This is a personnel issue that has become a daily problem, yet they do not make any changes in attempting to train Kia.
Do you remember the feeling of being in college and having to avoid that one really grumpy RA who treated you like a child rather than a young adult? This feels worse than that. Kia is being paid to cause us this same amount of hassle.
Kia has now started asking the maintenance crew to take photos of our apartment when they are servicing the property. This could be considered an illegal practice in retaliation and an invasion of our personal privacy. The office staff have come to our vehicle, inspecting the exterior and property through the windows. The maintenance staff hav no option but to comply with Kia’s demands.
I think even a month ago I would have still erred in recommending living here. It has become clear that this isn’t stopping. If the office staff improves and the terrible programs that Kia has enacted are removed I will consider updating my entire review.
