I had a really tragic and disappointing experience with KeyMe Locksmith. I called them for locksmith services for my car, explaining that I needed a new key with programming, and I also mentioned that as a student in the US with no income and delicate status, I needed them to be careful with my vehicle.
The first technician, Ron, arrived and spent nearly an hour trying to program the new key without success. He then called in another technician, Fahad, who should be more expert, but he also failed to resolve the issue. He kept trying many things in the computer, then, he claimed that the car stopped responding to his computer, then left abruptly with no word other than "Call my manager." The engine push-start button stopped working completely. I attempted to contact the manager but received no response. KeyMe told me the manager would call me the next day, but I never received that call.
The following day, after not hearing from KeyMe, I towed my car to Toyota service center, Today I received Toyota diagnosis result "attached!" which is the last thing I wanted to ever hear, the car's ECU was damaged, it acts as if the car is stolen, it burnt itself. The reason is that the correct reset procedures weren't followed. The repair cost is $7,200, which is more than the car is worth.
******* November 18th Update: KeyMe has fully reimbursed the cost of my car repairs. Thank you, Key.me and Specially Jennie, for resolving this case! *********
