- CFChris FosdickJan 14, 20241.0I called the location nearest to me for an after ours lock out. I got 4 calls from different numbers from 4 different technicians within 15 minutes. The first technician wouldn't quote me how much it would cost over the phone. He had no way to perform non-destructive entry and insisted the only way to open the door was drilling the deadbolt. At this point he quoted me $595 dollars. After I refused and said I would call someone else, he began aggressively haggling with me. Alone, after dark, in the cold we eventually settled on a price. He then proceeds to do the worst lock drilling I have ever seen, destroying part of the door frame in the process. I realized this was not a lock smith, this was just a dude with a drill. Other fun facts! -He never asked or attempted to verify this was, in fact, my house! -I doubt he was bonded or actually had any understanding of how locks work -He didn't seem to know the difference between a schlage vs medeco lock. -His haggling was so aggressive I stacked furniture in front of my door after he left because he knew where I lived and that I didn't have any working locks. In conclusion: Do yourself a favor, find an actual local locksmith before you lock yourself out, and get their number so you're not reliant on a service like this. 2 week update and edit! After going through multiple generic emails to try and resolve the issue I was called by a lovely customer service rep who said I should call their "partner" to resolve the damage to my door. I called the"partner" they had a record of my call, then said sorry and hung up on me. I can't get in touch with anyone at KeyMe.
