- GLGeoff LittleJul 31, 20242.0To be clear: the technician DID unlock my door late in the evening / in an emergency. That's why this is not a 1-star review. My issue is that the way they went about charging me felt fraudulent and extortionary. And also their customer service was 0 help. The technician didn't quote me how much the service would cost until he was at my door, with the tools in my door, ready to unlock it. It's at that point, right before unlocking my door, that he conveniently tells me the price will be a whopping $220. I'm not really in a position to say "no", he's seconds away from unlocking it, so of course I agree and in less than a minute he unlocks my door. This felt wrong. Perhaps I was wrong by not demanding a quote before hand on the phone--that's on me that I expect businesses to be upfront about what they charge and to be fair when they're face-to-face with me. Customer service was no help when I called, they couldn't justify the exorbitant price. Supposedly ANY charge between $50 and $200 for an unlock is by default an "accurate" charge. But they couldn't tell me what justifies a $50 vs $200 charge. They were unable to tell me why the ~30 seconds of the technician's labor was worth almost the maximum of the allowable range ($190) instead of their quoted minimum ($50). If the technician's charge is $200, no matter what the technician did or didn't do, that charge is considered correct. Obviously, they will always charge you the max. The technician DID get me in my door and for that I'm grateful. But the company is shady and I recommend using someone else.
