The Kanesville Tabernacle, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, is a reconstruction of the tabernacle built by the Latter-day Saints to provide a place to reorganize the First Presidency in 1847. In the tabernacle, Brigham Young was sustained as the President of the Church with Apostles Willard Richards and Heber C. Kimball serving as his counselors.

- BABryan AndersenSep 23, 20255.0This is a wonderful historic site that relates some stories about Mormon pioneers who were in this area from 1846 to 1852. The visitors center has exhibits and also a short film about the Mormon Battalion, which made the longest ever U.S. Army infantry march -- from this location to San Diego, California. Additionally, there are some bronze cut-out sculptures which tell short stories of the families who stayed behind while their soldiers marched away to serve the country in the Mexican-American War.
