John came to my house to determine if my side yard needed a drywell. He gave me an honest opinion and ended up saying all we needed to do was grade the land. He even said he could do it, but going with our landscapers would be cheaper. He made the trek out to my home and was purely honest and professional. If you're looking for an honest and professional for a drywell or cesspool needs, go with Johm. Thank you John!

I called John Willis cesspool because my dad was having a back up at his house. First of all they responded right away which was great and second they sent Bernie who knew exactly what he was doing..honest and clean and fixed the problem 1,2,3! The prices were great and the service we received from Bernie was above and beyond I give this company and this employee 5 stars if I could give 10 I would.

John really helped me out of a bind. I needed the new low nitrate septic system installed and my contractor did not know a thing about them.
The contractor hired a friend who could only dig 10 - 12 feet, the survey called for a 64 foot hole to get to the proper drainage spot.
Complicating things further, my site was very tight and hilly for such large equipment.
John knew exactly what to do and did it without extra rings which saved me a considerable amount of money. He passed every state inspection on the first try.
He is very, knowledgeable, professional and a pleasure to work with. I highly recommend him!
Frequently Asked Questions About John Willis Cesspools
How often should I pump my septic tank?
The frequency of septic tank pumping varies based on household size and usage, but generally, we recommend every 3-5 years for residential systems. Commercial systems may require more frequent maintenance. If you're in Suffolk County, NY and need septic cleaning, don't hesitate to contact John Willis Company for professional service.
What's the difference between a cesspool and a septic system?
A cesspool is essentially a basic underground pit for wastewater storage, while a septic system is more advanced, consisting of a tank and a leach field for improved treatment. For assistance with either your cesspool or septic system in Suffolk County, NY, John Willis Company is ready to help with expert pumping and maintenance services.
What are signs my cesspool or septic system needs service?
Key indicators that your system may need attention include slow-draining fixtures, unpleasant odors, water pooling in your yard, and backups in toilets or sinks. It's worth noting that, according to This Old House, a typical two- to three-bedroom home requires a septic tank with at least a 1,000-gallon capacity. Regular pumping is crucial to maintain system efficiency. If you notice these signs in Suffolk County, NY, consider contacting John Willis Company for professional septic system pumping.
Do you offer emergency services?
Indeed, we provide round-the-clock emergency response for urgent situations such as overflowing cesspools, sewer clogs, and backups. If you're facing an emergency cesspool issue in Suffolk County, NY, our team is available 24/7 to provide swift assistance.
What is an I/A OWTS system and do I need one?
I/A OWTS stands for Innovative/Alternative Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems. These advanced systems are designed to reduce nitrogen pollution and are often required for new installations or system upgrades in many areas of Long Island. If you're considering septic installation in Suffolk County, NY, our team can advise whether an I/A OWTS system is necessary for your property.
How do I know if my commercial grease trap needs cleaning?
Signs that your commercial grease trap may need cleaning include slow drainage, foul odors, or backups in kitchen areas. Based on our experience, we recommend regular maintenance of commercial grease traps every 1-3 months to prevent costly plumbing issues. If you're experiencing these problems or need emergency cesspool assistance in Suffolk County, NY, John Willis Company is ready to provide prompt and efficient service.
What are the Best Practices for Maintenance?
To maintain your septic system effectively, we recommend: 1. Using water efficiently and spreading laundry loads throughout the week. 2. Being mindful of what goes down the drain - avoid disposing of grease, oil, non-flushable wipes, chemicals, paint, pesticides, diapers, or feminine products. 3. Limiting garbage disposal use, as it adds solids that require more frequent pumping. These practices can help extend the life of your system and reduce the need for emergency services.
Can I inspect or pump my system myself?
We strongly advise against self-inspection or pumping of your septic system. Professional technicians have specialized tools and safety training to perform these tasks properly and safely. Attempting to do so without proper knowledge and equipment could lead to potential health hazards or damage to your system.
