I recently signed a kitchen design/pre-construction agreement listing my $75K-85K target budget and paid a 10% deposit ($7,500) to be applied towards the remodel. Prior to signing, I shared all vendor quotes/plans and JLS agreed IN WRITING they can absolutely coordinate with my quartz fabricator. After securing my deposit, JLS presented a $106,000 proposal (25 to 42% above the budget range) including a quartz quote $10k higher than my quartz quotes. Despite earlier flexibility, JLS' reversal tactics made it clear that their "preferred" vendors actually mean "required" vendors. JLS' minimal cost breakdown and underwhelming renderings lacked transparency and financial responsibility. I requested a 50% deposit refund but JLS rejected this as non-refundable. I have since hired a new contractor based on the same remodel parameters and am fully on budget. Sharing to help other homeowners avoid similar experiences with JLS Remodeling Services. We were notified that our project was 50% more than expected and had a day to come up with the funds on two separate occasions. When we requested a detailed bill, management was very combative and threatened to stop work if we didn’t pay but never did provide the bill we asked for. Would not recommend them for any project.
