SCAM ALERT ‼️
I went into JCPenney‘s two separate times yesterday and had two separate transactions. One clerk honored the 40% to 60% off sale that was plastered on signs throughout the store. The first clerk, I did a transaction with did not honor the displayed 40% to 60% off sale and pushed me to apply for a credit card. I assume had I applied for the credit card she would have honored the discount that was already published throughout the store. Needless to say, I returned all three of my bath rugs after looking at my receipt and confirming she scammed me. It sounds like they pick and choose which customers they will give their published discounts to. There is no QR code to scan or a coupon to download. This is a scenario that is worthy of reporting to the Attorney General and federal trade commission.

Shady business practices. Sale is listed as 40% or 60% off everywhere in the store. Spoke with an employee in jewelry who insisted the price listed wouldn't be that price because when you apply for a Penney's charge card, you get more off. Husband and I stated we weren't interested in a charge card she was insistent. Continued shopping in apparel, get to the register and the sales clerk states that if we apply for a charge card we'll get more money off. She would not issue the posted applicable 60% off until we applied for the card and kept saying it was part of the deal for the promotion. If you get the charge card it reduces your total from 907 to 700 something, if you apply and don't get it, your total will be 574. I told her I just want the deal that's posted in the store and she said we had to apply for the credit card, so after being forced to apply, we had to lie about our income to get rejected to get the deal the store was advertising!! I'm looking into reporting this to corporate and the FTC as well as other channels because I didn't enjoy being held up at checkout.
