BEWARE of the jewelry sales department not knowing their own policies in what could be a big scam. I bought a ring band at their jewelry department and wanted to solder it to an existing ring set. The sales person told me the purchase of the ring came with a 1-time sizing and a 1-soldering. I even showed her pictures of what the old set and how I wanted them to go together. She brought over a second jewelry employee who confirmed that the new purchase came with this. I even confirmed with them one more time that the price at the register was my “out-the-door” price and the basic care plan included the sizing and soldering. I dropped off the set later and then all of a sudden I get a call three weeks later saying the estimate to solder the new ring to the old set is $80 FOR polishing and cleaning. The jewelry supervisor said there was nothing she could do. How in the world does the 1-time soldering not include the cleaning and polishing? What a scam. Unless they fix this, I will never buy nor recommend to anyone to buy anything from JC Penney jewelry ever again. No wonder online shopping is taking over. Prices and customer service is way better in online shopping.

I have never experienced such incompetence from a corporation. My fiancé spent months waiting on my wedding ring due to repeated errors and confusion between JCPenney and their jeweler. His original plan to surprise me was ruined because of the delays, and he was forced to reveal it early in disappointment.
When the ring finally arrived, the diamond fell out within a week. It then took over a month to get it repaired, only for JCPenney to return it altered with sizing beads that he never requested. No one has provided an explanation for how or why that happened.
This experience has been heartbreaking, stressful, and beyond unacceptable. If you are considering spending your hard-earned money on something as meaningful as wedding jewelry, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. I will be sharing this experience widely to warn other customers and reporting this company through every channel available.
