Hardly Anything anymore. Can never find anyone to help. One check out register in the store and no one else wants to help you. It is sad. JCPenney used to be a clean upbeat place. It reminds me more of a Roth now..except prices are a lot higher.

I have had my hair permed for 30 years now. 2 years ago, JCPenney destroyed my hair with a spiral perm that did not turn out because the inexperienced stylist neglected to extract all of the perm solution residue from my hair when rinsing. I figured that I would give them a chance again, only to experience the exact same issue with the current stylist. It was discussed during the perm, that my stylist was a 4 year employee of the company, so I was fairly confident that I was in good hands before the procedure began. My hair TRIM became a hair CUT (assuming that the stylist was trying to motivate the non-existent curl). I originally requested a spiral perm and a hair trim. I went into JCPenney with hair down to my buttocks and with a vast amount of curl pattern already in my hair, and I left with hair just below my shoulders, and almost pin straight hair. This isn't even the worst part!! They scheduled me for a re-perm 4 days later with a different worker, who did not want to do the perm, so the worker call me all four days to try to get me to cancel by arguing with me about the health of my "dead ends," which did not exist because my hair had been whacked beyond measure!! She then began to argue with me about the color damage to my hair, as if she was the one who had seen it!!! I kept telling her that I had no "color damage" to my hair and that it was incredibly healthy because I hadn't colored my hair in over 2 years!! Finally, the stylist just simply refused to do my hair on the grounds that she did not want to be responsible to fix someone else's mistake... This was not just one awful experience. I gave them a second chance and I walked right back into the same exact mess!! JCPenney is the new "Cost Cutter" in town. It is an overpriced joke of a salon and Jefferson City, Missouri, has too many salon options to continue my business with a salon that has gotten comfortable with refusing to take accountability for THEIR consistent mistakes, nor that charges professional prices, yet refuses to hire competent stylists. I am repulsed by the lack of professionalism in such an environment. There was only one gal in the entire batch of stylists that worked for the restaurant that could even professionally braid hair!! Where's the diversity!?? I'm honestly no longer comfortable in the environment, anyway. I felt like I was stuck in 1990!!! The girl doing my perm did not even lift my rods when putting the neutralizer on, and that was after she didn't rinse all of the perm solution out in the first place!! When I first got to the salon, I thought about canceling the appointment right then, and wish to God that I would have just follow through!! The environment had this "just getting by" disposition to it and lacked any professionalism, whatsoever!! The place was empty, outside of myself and another customer, and I could tell right off the bat that the girl lacked the experience necessary for my perm. I had a pit in my stomach, but I thought to myself "how bad could it be??" I have never had trouble with my hair taking perms, outside of them giving me perms in the past, so I specifically requested to have two perm solutions utilized this time. After coming back to the JCPenney Salon and having the exact same negative experience from 2 years ago, I've noticed a few things. They've gotten very comfortable with the way that things don't work there. Maybe, they need to look at letting go some of their older employees who may be holding the salon back by maintaining habits that aren't working for the salon, and bring on new staff that are willing to grow, and to learn the trends that are keeping this artistic industry alive. I would suggest if the JCPenney Salon intends to survive, you should consider shaking things up a bit there!! Apparently, they pass all of their redo work onto the one decent employee that they have, and at this point, she's so burnt out that she is simply refusing the tasks! The situation was resolved with a full refund, but the damage to my hair is done and was non-negotiable... I WILL NEVER BE BACK!!
