  I shopped yesterday and bought some clothes. I brought my items to checkout where the sales associate, Maryann, rang me up. I had a 30% off coupon that I had just downloaded. I asked to have it scanned. This is where the problem began. She said that it wouldn't work. I asked her to try it anyway since I had already downloaded and it was displayed on my phone. She said, "do you understand English? I just told you it won't work." I explained that I do understand English and that she's being rude. She then asked if I trusted her. Strange question. We then entered into a staring contest. Finally she moves to the register and hits a button and said that the coupon didn't work. She didn't scan the coupon on my phone. I was going to pay with my credit card but didn't feel comfortable giving it to her. Instead, I handed her cash. She hands me the change and then the receipt in a rude and abrupt manner. I was so fed up I asked her where Customer Service was located, as I wanted to file a complaint. She said that she was Customer Service. I walked away and found a manager on the floor, Michele. She was nice, but I feel like she just gave me lip service. JC Penney has had trouble in the past with poor customer service and coupon mischief. I guess things don't really change. I will be shopping elsewhere. Very disappointing!
