Japanese Auto Professional Service Ltd provides maintenance and repair services for Japanese import vehicles in Ann Arbor, MI, and the surrounding areas.
This is an honest place, I come in here and they will be transparent with what needs to be done and what doesn't. They will even recommend me to hold off on an unnecessary procedure. In the past, a dealership will recommend me a repair; I come in here for a 2nd opinion and they will tell me it's not needed or charge me much lower for the service. I feel compelled to keep my old Civic Hybrid or buy another Japanese import due to this place. Thanks again.

Brought my Honda for a second opinion on a suspension problem and discovered that the fix for it was much simpler than what the dealership suggested. Japanese Auto repaired it to my satisfaction and saved a boatload of money. Very efficient, professional and low pressure. Thanks!

The receptionist/clerk is terrible. Unfriendly and arrogant. I have been going there for 15 years. Not going back until the receptionist/clerk retires.
Frequently Asked Questions About Japanese Auto Professional Service, Ltd.
How often should I service my car?
The main service requirement is changing your car’s oil and oil filter. For most drivers, we recommend an oil change every 5,000 miles or yearly, whichever comes first. At Japanese Auto Professional Service, Ltd, we perform a full inspection during the oil change service and advise on any other maintenance needed or upcoming.
What does the “maint req” light on my dash indicate?
Your car is due for the oil change service described above.
What does the “check engine” light on my dash mean?
On many cars, this is a yellow symbol that looks like an engine. This light indicates that your car’s engine computer has detected a problem that may affect emission performance, and the computer will store information about which system/components are involved. The vehicle should come into the shop for investigation. If the engine is running normally, you can do this at your convenience. If the engine is running poorly, or the check engine light is blinking, bring the car in as soon as possible.
My car makes a grinding noise that gets worse when braking. What does this mean?
The brakes are worn out and need to be serviced soon.
I just had my car at the dealership and received a list of recommended repairs. My car seems normal to me. What should I do?
We suggest you get a second opinion, which we’re happy to provide.
My vehicle makes a humming sound that I hear once moving, and gets louder the faster I go. What’s causing this?
Frequently, that type of sound is caused by a bad wheel bearing. Generally, the car will be safe to drive and should come into the shop for diagnosis at your convenience.
A red light that looks like a battery came on my dash. Do I need a new battery?
No, this light indicates a problem with the battery charging system, and in some cases, this can lead to the car failing to start. Contact us as soon as possible to bring the vehicle in for diagnosis.
My car sounds louder than normal, and makes a roaring sound that gets worse the faster I go. What’s causing that?
Most likely, your vehicle needs exhaust system repairs. The exhaust system has several components and an inspection is needed to determine which parts need replacement.
My vehicle feels bouncy and sounds clunky on rough roads. What’s up?
Your car probably needs suspension repair. The suspension system includes things like shocks/struts, control arms, ball joints, anti-sway bars, and other components, so a thorough inspection is needed to make an accurate diagnosis.
Does my car need a tune-up?
A tune-up refers to engine maintenance, such as the replacement of spark plugs, filters, belts, and hoses and assessing engine condition. Most modern cars have extended service requirements, and generally don’t need these services frequently. Your owner’s manual includes your vehicle’s maintenance schedule, and we are always happy to inspect your vehicle and advise on the maintenance needed.
