As a longtime J.Crew enthusiast, I was genuinely excited when a Factory store opened in my community in October 2024. That excitement has turned into frustration and disappointment. What started as a clean, well-run store has quickly devolved into a neglected, chaotic mess and it’s embarrassing for the brand. The store is filthy. There’s dust and dirt in the fitting rooms, and across the displays. It doesn’t feel like a retail space it feels abandoned. The staff is wildly inconsistent: a few are helpful, but many are flat-out rude, dismissive, or glued to their phones, completely uninterested in helping anyone. Some even seem more interested in checking themselves out in the mirror than doing their jobs. That’s not quirky it’s unprofessional. To make it worse, this location is a poor reflection of other J.Crew Factory stores in Rhode Island and beyond. Displays are a disorganized mess, the clearance section looks like a rummage sale, and for a beach town, the complete lack of women’s swimsuits while stocking options for men and kids — is baffling. Add to that the constant “floor resets” happening during the middle of the day, with merchandise everywhere and staff wheeling racks around customers like it’s a warehouse it’s not just inconvenient, it’s disrespectful to shoppers. It’s obvious that store management isn’t prioritizing the customer experience. And if corporate is aware of this and letting it slide, then that’s even worse. This isn’t just a tourist town. This is a community of hard-working, year-round residents who deserve a clean, well-managed, and respectable shopping environment not a subpar retail experience that feels like an afterthought. Do better. This community and your brand deserve it.
